• Offered support for countries that rejected Communism

• Most of Western Europe was destroyed during World War II

• Europe needed MONEY for rebuilding

• 1947- U.S. Congress passed 12.5 Billion in aid for European Countries

• For 11 months Americans fly in supplies– 1 plane landed every 3 minutes!

In the end, Soviets end blockade in 1949City remains divided during Cold War
