The Cold War
The Cold War (1946-1991) was a continuing state of political conflict, military tension, and economic competition between the Communist World (Soviet Union, satellite states and Allies) and the Western World.
Satellite State- Is a small country controlled by a more powerful country.
Iron Curtain- The Iron Curtain is symbolic of the line dividing East and Western Europe during the Cold War. Winston Churchill created the terms after the building of the Berlin Wall.
Containment- To keep communism contained within its existing borders.
Berlin Airlift- The Allies action to carry food and supplies to people in West Berlin.
Truman Doctrine- The policy stated that the U.S. would support Greece and Turkey with economic and military aid to prevent their falling into Soviet domination.
Marshall Plan- Is an American program to aid Europe where the U.S gave support to help rebuild European economies in order to combat the spread the Soviet communism.
Communism- A political, socail, economic system where the government controls everything.

Differences between Russia and America
1. Created the Truman Doctrine which was a policy that the U.S would support Greece and Turkey with economic aid to prevent their falling in the Soviet Union.
2. Created the containment to keep communism contained within its existing borders.
3. Created the Marshall Plan to give European economies in order to combat the spread the Soviet communism.
4. The Allies organized the Berlin Airlift to carry food and supplies to the people in West Berlin.

Causes Results
The Soviet blockade caused more than 2 million people West Berliners to face severe shortages of food and other supplies.
Stalin was able to close roads and block railways, but he couldn’t block the sky.
People migrated from the East to the West, because the west was doing better economically.
The Berlin Airlift was created to carry food and supplies to West Berliners.
Stalin shot anyone that tried to passthrough.
Stalin’s plans failed.
