He also refers to conversations he has with Siobhain about the writing of the novel. Use the start of the diagram below to keep track of the timeline of the story. This will help you think about the structure of the novel and remind you of key events. Chapter 2: the opening of the novel. Christopher discovers Wellington dead on Mrs Shears’ lawn. Chapter 3: Christopher introduces himself as the narrator. Chapter 3: He refers to Siobhain and how, when he met her 8 years ago, she drew facial expressions for him to try to understand. Chapter 5: Christopher explains how Mrs Shears reacted when she found him on the lawn with Wellington. Chapter 7: Christopher, at some point afterwards, showed the book so far to Siobhain. He also writes a little bit about its similarity to The Hound of the Baskervilles. Chapter 11: The Police arrived and Christopher hit the Policeman because he does not like to be touched. Chapter 13: Christopher tells us that this will not be a funny book and he explains that this is because he does not understand jokes. Key: The timeline of the telling of the novel.
