The order of events on this solemn evening appears to have been:

And when the hour came, He reclined at table, and the apostles with him. And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you I will not eat it until it is fulfilled in the

Leader as one who serves…

“A dispute also arose among them, as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest. And he said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and

those in authority over them are called benefactors. But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. For who is the greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines

at table? But I am among you as the one who serves.

WASHES THEIR FEETJohn 13.1-20

If I do not wash you…

He had come from G-d and was going back to G-d, rose from supper. He laid aside His outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around His waist. Then He poured water

into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around Him. He came to Simon Peter, who said to Him,

“Lord, do you wash my feet?’ He answered him, “What I am doing you do not

understand now, but afterward you will understand.” Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no share

with me.”John 13.3-8

A Servant is not…

When He had washed their feet and put on His outer garments and

resumed His place, He said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? Truly, truly, I say to

you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger

greater than the one who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. I am not

speaking of all of you; I know whom I have chosen.

John 13.3-8


IDENTIFIES JUDAS AS THE TRAITOR

Betrayal…

He reclined at the table with the twelve. “Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.” “He who has dipped his hand in the dish with me will betray me. The Son of Man goes as it is written of him but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born.” Judas,

who would betray him, answered, “Is it I, Rabbi?” He said to him, “You have said so.”

JUDAS WITHDRAWS, THE OTHERS PROFESS LOYALTY

Judas withdraws, the others profess loyalty…

So when he had dipped the morsel, he gave it to Judas, the

son of Simon Iscariot. Then after he had taken the morsel, Satan entered into him. Jesus

said to him, “What you are going to do, do quickly.” …So After receiving the morsel of bread, he immediately went

out. And it was night.John 13.26-27, 30


YESHUA [JESUS] INSTITUTES THE LORD’S SUPPER

Instituted the Lord’s Supper…

And He took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body,

which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”Luke 22.19


Instituted the Lord’s Supper…

And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.”

The Upper Room…

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in G-d, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for

you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

INTERCEDES WITH THE FATHER FOR HIS OWN

John 17

The hour has come…“Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son that the Son may glorify

you, since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give

eternal life to all whom You have given him. And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true G-d, and Y’shua [Jesus] whom you have sent. I glorified you on earth,

having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. And now,

Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.

AGONIZES IN THE GARDEN, IS BETRAYED AND ARRESTED

Agony in the garden…

And they went to a place called Gethsemane. And He said to His disciples, “Sit here while I pray.”

And going a little farther, He fell on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. And He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what

The one I will kiss…

“The one I will kiss is the man; seize him.” And he came up to Jesus at once and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” And he kissed

him. Jesus said to him, “Friend, do what you came to do.” Then they came up and laid hands on Jesus and seized him.
