    The Dead Sea

The surface of the Dead Sea is about400m bellow sea level The Dead Sea hasattracted visitors from around theMediterranean basin for thousands ofyears. Biblically, it was a place of refuge forKing David. It was one of the world's firsthealth resorts (forHerod the Great), and ithas been the supplier of a wide variety ofproducts, from balms forEgyptianmummification to potash forfertilizers.

People also use the salt and the mineralsfrom the Dead Sea to create cosmeticsand herbal sachets. In 2009, 1.2 millionforeign tourists visited on the Israeli side

    Caspian Sea

Caspian Sea the biggest lake of the world The seahas a surface area of 371,000 km2 (143,200 sq mi)(not including Garabogazkl Aylagy) and a volume of78,200 km3 (18,800 cu mi).[4] It is in an endorheicbasin (it has no outflows) and is bounded to thenorthwest by Russia, to the west byAzerbaijan, tothe south by Iran, to the southeast by Turkmenistan, and to the northeast by Kazakhstan. The ancientinhabitants of its littoral perceived the Caspian Seaas an ocean, probably because of its saltiness andseeming boundlessness. It has a salinity ofapproximately 1.2%, about a third the salinity of most

    seawater.
