1Ext. Various Streets Day

A black Ford S-Max drives along a road. Four Seasons December 1963

plays in the background as the car continues along the peaceful road. The

sun shines in the sky and the streets are filled with people.

A peaceful world

CUT TO:

2 Int. Ford S-Max Day

CU of Jacob resting his head against the back seat relaxed. His mother

sits beside him laughing as his older brother in the passenger seat sings

along badly to the music.

Jacob glances down. A black backpack rests beside his leg half unzipped.

MOTHER

Jake? Are you ok?

Jacob keeps his eyes fixed on the backpack mysterious.

JACOB

Yeah (pause) Ive just got work to do.

3Ext. Traffic Lights Day

The car stops at a set of traffic lights. The music continues. CU of right rear

window as it rolls down to reveal Jacob resting his head against the chair

leisurely. The music plays lower.

Jacob; 17 years old, mysterious, Caucasian, male with short blonde hair

and black framed glasses.

Jacob continues to gaze, without a care in the world out of the window. He

raises a black handgun out of the window.

Pulls the trigger.

With a bang an African boy falls to the floor.

The traffic lights change and the car pulls away. Jacob looks neutral. The

music returns to its original volume as the car drives off with just a single

scream being heard behind as Jacob mockingly mouths the scream.

CUT TO TITLES:

Three Week Earlier

FADE TO:

4 Int. Bedroom Morning

Camera looks directly down on Jacob lying in bed. A blue quilt covers

nearly almost all of his body as he stares, emotionless

The sound of a ticking clock is the only sound that can be heard. With a

shake of the head Jacob breaks his stare and rolls out of bed in a pair of

boxers. He slips on a pair of blue jeans and a blue polo shirt lying beside his

bed and leaves the room.

CUT TO:

5 Int. Hallway Morning

Jacob walks along with a stretch and a yawn. The hallway is decorated with

spotless white walls and shining hard wood floor with family photos in

gold frames dotted around the walls.

CU of family photo with mother and two older brothers crowded on a sofa

laughing as Jacob passes it.

CUT TO:

6 Int. Living Room Morning

Jacob enters the living room and sits on a black leather sofa, adjacent to

his older brother, Steve, on a matching armchair. The walls are plain white

and a black fireplace sits under the mantelpiece.

JACOB

Morning.

STEVE

(sarcastically) Afternoon.

JACOB

That's not even funny when I wake up

late but...it's only 10.

Jacob sits and puts his feet up on the chair. Jacob's mother enters with a

cup of tea in a black mug and a bowl of corn flakes in a white bowl,

handing it to Jacob and taking a seat beside him.

The news plays, mid-way through a report, on the large flat screen TV.

REPORTER

It was in the early hours of this

morning when she was found and

police are still investigating what

exactly happened as witnesses seem to

be sparse. (Continues in the

background)

JACOB

What she talking about?

STEVEListen and you might find out.

Jacob stops eating and begins to listen intently. He looks confused and

there is an element of sadness in his eyes.

REPORTER

All we do know is that around six

o'clock this morning the police

received a call telling them about abody found in Riverfield Park here in

Dagenham. The body has now been

identified as mother of two, Katherine

Reed and police are currently trying to

locate the children as the mother was

found just metres from an empty push

chair which they now believe had

belonged to one of her children, so

now police are considering the

possibility that either one or both her

children were with her when she was

killed late last night.

STEVE

Bet its gangs. (Pause) It always is.

JACOB

You don't know that.

STEVE

Yes I do. Its the same thing everyday,

why would this be any different? Im

telling you, its gangs!

Jacob shakes his head as if disapproving of Steve's opinion and begins toeat again, ending the conversation.

He eats a couple more spoonfuls before his mobile beeps beside him on

the arm of the chair. He puts down his spoon, wipes a small drop of milk

off his lip and picks up his phone. He presses show and begins to read.

GOIN PARK AT 10! WANNA COME? :)'

Jacob puts his phone back down and continues to eat.

STEVE

Whose that?

JACOB

Mates, I'm going out.

MOTHER

(sarcastically) Oh well thanks for telling

me.

CUT TO:

7Ext. Car Park Morning

Jacob exits his block of flats and walks through the car park showing no

regard for the possibility of getting hit by a car.

He walks, whistling cheerfully, as the sun beams down on the dreary

buildings then stops.

He turns to look across the street. A man in a grey suit stares across from a

bus stop. Jacob stares back suspicious.

Carries on.

Glances back

Continues.

8Ext. Empty Street Morning

Jacob walks along an empty street relaxed. Only one other man stands

on the street leaning against a wall. As Jacob passes the man he looks up

MAN

(shouts) Excuse me.

Jacob turns back to look at the man. Looking surprised that someone has

spoken to him his eyes glance around for a moment then fixes his eyes on

the man. The man is looking back confused.

MAN

Whats you name?

JACOB

What?

MAN

Your name, what is your name?

Jacob pauses, unsure.

JACOB

Jacob, Jacob Preston.

MAN

(pause) I know you.

JACOBWhat dyou mean?

MAN

Im sorry. Im really sorry

Jacob stays silent. The man begins to look agitated and talks as fast as the

words can leave his mouth.

MANI know you dont know yet but you

need to, you need to know Jacob

because its coming, its coming and you

cant stop it and Im sorry (Pause)

Thats when youll have to remember.

Jacob shakes his head refusing to think about what the man is saying.

JACOB

I dont, I dont understand. Whats

coming.

MAN

(Long pause) The darkness.

Jacob backs away from the man not taking his eyes off of him.

MAN

Im sorry.

Jacob and his friends surround a circle of swings with some sat on swings

and others standing close by. Jacob sits, gently swinging, beside Rose onthe swing next to him.

Jacob stares at the floor below him silent. There is sadness in his eyes.

ROSE

Are you ok?

JACOB

Yeah just (Pause) Never mind.

ROSE

Have you spoken to him?

JACOB

Nope. Not heard a word.

ROSE

I don't even know why you two split

up, you've never said. I always thought

you two were good together. I mean

you had so much in common.

JACOB

(Interrupts suddenly) No, no we didn't.

The only thing we had in common was

that we both hated being bisexual.

ROSE

You gotta get out and meet someone

new mate.

JACOB

Where? I'm 17 the only place I can

meet people is here probably and Iain't seeing to many people other than

us (Pause) Except that bird over there,

don't really have a thing for pensioners

though.

They both look across at an elderly woman sitting on a bench. She looks

both horrified and curious.

ROSEThink she's got a thing for you though.

Jacob stays silent - staring back. The woman eventually stands up - looking

reluctant to take her eyes off of him - and walks away.

Pause.

Turns back to the group.

LEON

Are we just gunna sit here all day?

ROSE

(Joking) Oh look, you don't like it, do

one.

LEON

Oh fine be like that.

ROSE

I'm only joking I love you really, well

sort of.

The group all give out a small chuckle.

EMMA

Well Im going to the shop. Anyone

want anything?

HOLLY

Ill come with you.

Emma, Holly and several others leave the park heading for the shop

leaving Rebecca and Jacob alone. Jacob continues to gently swing withRebecca standing next to him leaning against a metal pole.

REBECCA

We spend our lives at this bloody park.

JACOB

Not much else we can do.

REBECCA

Yeah I suppose youre right.

JACOB

How can we even be here? Isnt this

where the woman was murdered last

night?

REBECCA

Jake, what are you on about? (pause) if

someone died here last night dont you

think we would have noticed by now?

Jacob shakes his head - confused.

JACOB

Suppose youre right. I mustve heardthe news wrong.

REBECCA

God you are weird sometimes.

JACOB

(Chuckles) You love it.

REBECCA(laughs) Yeah. We all do thats why

were all here.

The rest of the group return abruptly and everyone falls silent. They all

begin to look around at each other waiting for someone to talk.

JACOB

Gunna get ear ache from you lot.

Everyone smiles and some give a small chuckle.

JACOB

Anyone remember that time Holly fell

off the chair in English?

Most of the group begin to laugh. Some who don't know begin to ask while

the rest are in fits of laughter.

Jacob glances away.

His smile disappears. More people have entered the park - an old man

walking his dog, a couple walking through with a small child and a couple

of teenagers hanging around by the gate. All are staring at Jacob in that

same curious yet scared way that the old lady had.

The couple are holding their child back from running off towards the

swings and the old man has stopped with his dog trying to carry on. Jacob

stands worried.

Jacob steps through the swings.

The swings are empty.

CUT TO:

10 Ext. Narrow Street Morning

Jacob walks lifelessly along the street. He stares forwards looking at

nothing. His feet step lazily one after the other as if there is no energy

behind them. Sadness fills his face.

He continues to walk. Barely realising, he steps one foot off the curb. The

world slows. His foot touches the ground. He walks into the road tires

screech. A silver car screeches towards Jacob he freezes. The car swerves

away as Jacob stands and watches. Crash. The car hits a lamppost.

Smoke pours from the bonnet as Jacob stands for a few seconds and

watches.

He moves.

Runs towards the car and pulls the drivers door open. He reaches in and

quickly presses the button on his seat belt. Shoving the seat belt out of the

way he grabs he man from the front seta and pulls him out struggling.

The man is older than him and much more muscular with a cut across his

head and a long gash along his right leg.

Jacob begins to drag him away from the car. He glances down at the back

of the car and sees flames gathering around the bottom of the car. Hebegins to pull the man away faster, grunting as he pulls with all the

strength he has.

As he drags further and further away panic begins to show on his face

more and more. He gets the man up onto the pavement opposite the car.

He lifts the man as much as he can and puts his arm around his own neck.

He carried on. Suddenly the car erupts into flames knocking Jacob and the

man to the floor.

Jacob lies on the floor. He stares over at the flames.

He closes his eyes.

FADE TO:

11 Int. Hospital Cubicle Day

A young female nurse cleans a cut on Jacobs jaw. He shows little pain as

she wipes the small damn white piece of cloth against the small wound.

JACOB

Can I go yet?

NURSE

Im almost done.

JACOB

(emotionless) Its just a cut.

NURSE

This will just take a second.

Jacob stands and moves away from the nurse. He exits the cubicle he is sat

in and begins to walk away still emotionless.

NURSE

Sir Im not finished yet could you

please come back here for one

moment please.

Jacob ignores the nurse and carries on walking.

12 Int. Hospital Ward Day

Jacob walks through the ward. People lay with all different injuries on

either side in hospital beds. Jacob looks from side to side looking for

someone.

He walks past 6 beds before he stops at the man he is looking for. The

driver of the silver car sits up on a hospital bed alone. Jacob warily

approaches.

JACOB

Hi. Im Jacob (pause) Im the one that

pulled you out, ya know, of the car.

Youre Michael right?

MICHAEL

Yeah thats me and hey thanks for that.

Doctor said without you Id be dead.

JACOB

Doesnt matter.

MICHAEL

It does.

Jacob steps closer and stands beside his bed.

MICHAEL

So whats your name kid?

JACOB

Jacob.

MICHAEL

Hello, Jacob. Im Michael (pause) Whydont you have a seat?

Michael shuffles over. After a brief moment Jacob takes a seat beside him.

JACOB

Im sorry.

MICHAEL

For what?

JACOB

I was standing in the middle of the

road, I caused the crash.

MICHAEL

I was talking on my phone anyway I

would have crashed at some point.

(pause) Plus you saved my life so I

guess you made it up to me.

They both chuckle.

MICHAEL

So kid whats your story?

JACOB

Havent got one.

MICHAEL

(chuckles) Everyones got a story kid.

JACOB

Not me. Boring life. Nothing exciting

happens to me. I get up, eat breakfast,go out with mates, come home, sleep.

Thats my day. Everyday.

MICHAEL

No theres more than that I know it. I

can see it in your eyes.

JACOB

Nope. Nothing.

Michael looks marginally suspicious.

JACOB

What about you? Whats your story?

MICHAEL

Too long to tell.

JACOB

Ive got plenty of time.

MICHAEL

(pause) Suppose its not that

interesting.

JACOB

Oh come on you asked for mine and

now youre not even gunna tell me

about yours.

MICHAEL

Fine.

Michael takes a mouthful of water from the cup beside his bed.

MICHAEL

I grew up on a crappy estate in Barking

with my mother after my father walked

out three days before my second

birthday, taking all my mums money

with him, including the inheritance

from my granddad. Did my GCSEs, did

my A Levels, got a job (pause) and

then one day on some kid stepped in

front of my car and here I am.

JACOB

(Long pause) How come no ones come

to visit you?

MICHAEL

My mum died a few years back.

Theres no one else.

JACOB

Oh Im sorry.

MICHAELIts ok.

JACOB

So you not married or anything?

MICHAEL

No. (Long pause) Theres no one else.

(Pause) There was a girl once. A long

time ago. (Pause) She lived next doorto me when I was younger. She barely

ever looked at me, until one day. She

was carrying the shopping home and I

bumped into her, knocked it all out of

her hands. I have a habit of bumping

into things you see. (sarcastically)

Dont know if you noticed that.

Jacob laughs.

MICHAEL

Anyway after that we started talking,

went out a couple of times. (Pause) I

remember once we went to the

pictures to see the first Toy Story film.

God I must be old. We sat through the

film even though we were teenagers at

the time, both loving it more than the

kids in there (laughs) and then, in what

may be the cheesiest moment of my

life, it started raining on our way home

and well, that was our first kiss.

(laughs) I really liked her.

JACOBSo what happened?

MICHAEL

Well this was when I was like fourteen.

(Giggles) Her dad got a job abroad not

too long after we met. They left for

Dubai one night. I guess she was a

tough act to follow.

Michael smiles to himself as if no one else is really there with him. Jacob

stays silent, not knowing what to say. His face shows sadness. After a few

seconds Michael looks to Jacob.

MICHAEL

Are you ok?

Jacob stays silent. The sadness remains.

MICHAEL

Youve lost someone special too.

(Pause) Like I said I can see it in your

eyes.

Jacob snaps out of his gaze with a quick shake of his head.

JACOB

No Im fine, honestly. Look I better be

getting home but Ill come back and

see you again some time to see how

you are and stuff.

Jacob stands from the bed and with an awkward nod of his head to signal a

goodbye he turns and walks away. CUT TO:

13 Int. Living Room Day

Jacob enters the living room throwing down his keys on the radiator cover.

JACOB

(Shouts) Hello? Anyone in?

No reply. The house is silent.

He moves towards the large window where sunlight floods into the room -

stops.

A few inches from the net curtains as if he knows what hes going to see.

He, almost reluctantly, pulls back the net curtain and looks out. On the

street he sees the mysterious man in the grey suit from earlier - staring.

The man now stands on the opposite side of the road from before, closer

to Jacobs house. He looks up at to meet Jacobs worried gaze and looking

completely serious and almost as if he is trying to show sympathy.

STEVE

What are you looking at?

Jacob turns around, startled, to face his older brother

JACOB

When did you get in?

STEVE

Ive been in this whole time

JACOBWhy didnt you answer when I called?

Steve shrugs.

STEVE

Im only here when you need me to be.

Jacob looks confused. He looks as if he is about to speak but stops. He

brushes past his brother as he rushes out of his house.CUT TO:

14 Ext. Car Park Afternoon

Jacob walks out into the car park anxious. His head darts around looking

for something. He sees nothing. He carries on walking, his head still darting

around.

His breathing gets heavier and heavier. Hes panicking. His walking gets

faster and faster. His heart is beating through his ears. Theres no other

sound that can be heard.

The heart beats gets louder and louder. He walks faster.

It stops.

He bumps into a man and grunts as hes knocked slightly backwards.

JACOB

Sorry.

LEON

Its ok.

Jacob looks up realising who it is.

JACOB

Hi. Sorry about that. Wasnt paying

attention.

LEON

No its fine, honestly.

He smiles warmly, resting a hand on Jacobs shoulder.

LEON

Are you ok?

Jacob nods lying.

LEON

Come on. Lets go down the caf get a

cup of tea or something.

CUT TO:

15 Int. Caf Afternoon

Leon sits across from Jacob in a run down caf. The wooden chairs wobble

with every breath and the tables are covered in scratches and stains. The

sound of frying fills the room with everyone almost shouting to hear each

other. A moody waitress stands behind the counter taking peoples orders

before telling them to take a seat.

Leon and Jacob sit together on a table for four in the corner of the caf in

front of the large window facing out onto the street.

JACOB

Oh it doesnt matter. I was just looking

for something, guess it wasnt there.

LEON

(Long pause) You know you never

really say anything. I dont know

anything about you and Ive known you

for ages.

JACOB

So Im mysterious (laughs) Anyway I

dont know anything about you either.

LEON

Well there is nothing to know about

me is there?

JACOB

(smirks) What about you and Rose?

LEON

Nothing to tell there either.

JACOB

Oh pull the other one. We all know

theres something going on with you

two.

LEON

No seriously nothing is going to happen

I thought it would but it wont.

The moody waitress brings over two cups of tea and shoves them downonto the table. Leon and Jacob stops talking as she approaches. She

leaves.

JACOB

So why is nothing going to happen

then?

LEON

(Sarcastically) Yeah like you dontknow.

Jacob remains looking puzzled.

LEON

What you really dont know.

He shakes his head.

LEON

What really?

JACOB

No.

LEON

She wants you.

JACOB

Oh dont be stupid.

LEON

Im serious. She wants you. Everyone in

that group wants you (laughs)

JACOB

(Sarcastic) Oh that include you does it.

Jacob laughs. Leon gives a forced fake laugh before looking around

awkwardly. Jacob looks slightly worried.

LEON

I heard about earlier. You know the carcrash. You saved someone didnt you?

JACOB

Yeah.

LEON

Thats brilliant! Youre a hero. And the

car blew up Id never be able to bring

myself to do what you did.

JACOB

Well I was the one who caused it in the

first place so I wouldnt call myself a

hero.

LEON

I dont believe that. You couldnt hurt a

fly.

They both share an awkward yet warm look. Jacob gives a slight smile.

16 Ext. Outside Caf Late Afternoon

Leon and Jacob exit the caf. As the leave the door the stand outsideawkwardly looking at each other unsure of what to say or do next.

JACOB

So I guess Ill see you later.

LEON

Yeah well go out with the guys

sometime or something.

JACOB

Yeah definitely.

LEON

Ill see you later.

They give an awkward nod to say goodbye Leon walks off with Jacob left

standing alone.

CUT TO:

17 Int. Bedroom Morning

The sun beams through a gap in the curtains onto Jacob lying in bed. His

phone beeps on the chest of drawers beside him. Jacob quickly rolls over

with a sigh.

JACOB

God its already noon.

He looks at the new message.

COME TO THE WAREHOUSE NOW. YOUVE GOT WORK TO DO!

CUT TO:

18 Ext. Warehouse Afternoon

Jacob stands outside a large silver warehouse doing nothing but staring at

the building. Theres concrete floor as far as the eye can see and a mist of

dry dirt sweeps through the air when a car rarely drives across the

deserted road.

A man passing by approaches Jacob as he stands staring at the

warehouse.

PASSER BY

Im sorry but do you have the time?

Jacob nods and begins to roll up his sleeve to look at his watch. A sudden

loud bang booms through the air, echoing through the empty space. Both

Jacob and the man turn to face where the noise had come from, looking

confused.

PASSER BY

What was that?

The man seems to dismiss it but Jacob continues to stare looking baffled

as if someone is telling him something impossible.

PASSER BY

Anyway do you have the time? Its just

Im running late I think

Jacobs face stops looking confused and simply looks neutral and almost

at peace.

There is no time here, I know that now.

Jacob begins to walk across the deserted road not giving the possibility of

getting hit by a car a second thought. He moves closer to the warehouse

and a door to the side swings open, as if it has done it by itself.

Jacob reaches the door and stops. He stares in looking unsure for just a

second then enters the warehouse.

19 Int. Warehouse Afternoon

Jacobs steps into the warehouse. He takes a few steps in and stops. The

camera quickly pans from Jacob around half the room and stops on the

man in the grey suit standing across from Jacob.

MYSTERIOUS MAN

Welcome.

Jacob remains silent.

MYSTERIOUS MAN

I take it you understand where you are

now?

Jacob nods.

MYSTERIOUS MAN

Well done. It takes some people a long

time to realise that this world isnt

what they think. You learn fast.

JACOB

(Long pause) I understand where I am.

(Pause) But doesnt explain why you

called me here. What reason can you

have if theres no point to anything?

MYSTERIOUS MAN

I never said there wasnt a point to

anything (pause) and youve got work

to do.

JACOB

What dyou mean?

The man smiles devilishly and moves towards a small table and switches

on a light with a loud click. The light beams on and illuminates the wall. A

list of names written on the wall in chalk is revealed with a table blocking

the sixteenth and final name. Jacob steps curiously closer to look at the

wall.

MYSTERIOUS MAN

This is the list. Sixteen name. One job.

JACOB

I dont understand. What is it a list of.

The mysterious man looks at Jacob as if he should already know.

MYSTERIOUS MAN

Theres a backpack over there. Inside

theres a gun and all the bullets youre

gunna need. (Pause) Youre orders are

to kill everyone on that list.

JACOB

Why?

You know why.

Jacob turns towards The Listand looks at the first name. Marcus

Thompson.

CUT TO:

20 Ext. Street Corner Evening

A group of teenagers gather around a street corner. All are laughing,

barely able to stand, passing around a half full bottle of Vodka.

Jacob walks past on the opposite side of the road, the black backpack

swung over one shoulder. One of the girls stumbles through the group

and across the road towards him.

DRUNKEN GIRL

(Shouts) Jakey!

JACOB

(Anxious) Hi.

DRUNKEN GIRL

Whats in the bag?

The girl puts a hand on the bag and Jacob abruptly pulls away.

DRUNKEN GIRL

Come on just let me ave a look.

She grabs it again. This time she hold on tight and Jacob begins to tug

back.

DRUNKEN GIRL

What are you doing? Let me ave a

look.

Jacob gives one final tug. The girl loses her grip and stumbles forward

slightly. She looks confused. Jacob glances back for a second, and then

hurries away. The girl watches for a few seconds after him before shaking

her head and stumbling back to her friends.

CUT TO:

21 Int. Bedroom Evening

Jacob enters his bedroom, now with a black backpack on his back. He

quickly takes it off his back and places it on his bed. He lets out a loud sigh

as he begins to half heartedly clean some of the mess in his bedroom.

His mobile begins to ring and he answers it while continuing to put stuff

away.

JACOB

Hello?

HOLLY

Jake?

JACOB

Yeah thats me as far as I know.

HOLLY

I need to talk to you.

Jacob looks concerned.

JACOB

You sound like youve been crying

HOLLYI have.

JACOB

Whats wrong?

HOLLY

Can we just meet over the park or

something I need to talk to someone

and, I , I think youre the only onewholl understand.

JACOB

Ok. Ill just grab a quick shower and Ill

meet you over there in a bit ok.

Jacob hangs up the phone and quickly laves the room.

22 Int. Bathroom - Evening

Jacob stands in the shower with water running down on him while he

faces down. Steam fills the room as he stands motionless under the

continuous stream of water.

MYSTERIOUS MAN v/o

Your orders are to kill everyone on that

list.

LEON v/o

You couldnt hurt a fly.

JACOB v/o

There is no time here.

MICHAEL v/o

LEON v/o

I dont know anything about you.

MICHAEL v/oYou saved my life.

HOLLY v/o

Youre the only one wholl understand.

The voiceovers overlap and repeat over and over while Jacob squints

under the running water trying to block them all out.

CUT TO:

23 Int. Bedroom Evening

Jacob enters the bedroom wearing the same clothes he had previously

been wearing with his hair still damp as he hurries around putting on

shoes and grabbing his keys. Once he is ready he stops beside his bed and

looks down at the black backpack sitting on his bed.

He wearily steps closer. He slowly unzips the backpack and reaches in,

pulling out a small black handgun a few seconds later.

He stares at it in his hand for a moment before sliding it down the back of

his trousers and covering it with his shirt. Once its covered he rushes out

of the room grabbing a jacket as he goes.

24 Ext. Riverfield Park - Night

Jacob approaches the park. He walks looking emotionless as he heads

towards the gate. He stops suddenly a few feet short of the gate and looks

back subtly over his shoulder. A group of boys are standing around across

the street jokingly push around one of their friends as the friend looks

slightly worried and attempts to hide with awkward laughter.

Jacob stops glancing back, dismissing what is happening, and enters the

park. The gate creaks loudly and grinds against the concrete floor as hepushes it open to get in. Without looking around he begins to walk as if he

already knows where Holly is going to be.

Holly sits against a tree with her head buried into her knees. Shes curled

up against the tree as Jacob arrives beside her. He stands for a few

seconds just looking down at her before crouching beside her.

Holly; 18 years old, Scottish, long black hair, pale skin.

JACOB

So you going to tell me whats wrong

now then?

Holly raises her hand and looks at Jacob. Her eyes are puffy and tears still

glisten in her blue eyes.

HOLLY

I dont know. It doesnt make sense.

Theres a car, (pause) it doesnt stop it

just carries on.

JACOB

Where?

A single tear runs down her face.

HOLLY

In my head. I see it in my head and I

dont know why.

JACOB

What does the car do, when you see

it?

HOLLY

(long pause) It kills me. (pause) It kills

me then it doesnt stop.

Hey both fall silent for a moment. Jacob watches Holly as she tries to stop

her tears and avoids eye contact.

JACOB

Holly, youre going to know what that

means very soon. I wish I could just tell

you but it doesnt work that way and

you wouldnt believe me anyway. So

far now just go home and get some

rest you look like you need it.

HOLLY

I knew youd understand.

JACOB

(chuckles) Whys that?

You just seem to know more than

others for some reason, most peoplewould laugh at what I just said but you

didnt because youre, different.

JACOB

Like I haven been told that before.

They both glance solemnly at each other before Holly stands. Taking in a

deep breath she walks away leaving Jacob alone.

After a moment of staring at the floor deep in thought, he stands and

moves back towards the gate.

He exits the park the again stops to look at the group of boys across the

street. The boys have turned violent on the boy they were pushing around

and are now all kicking him as he lays on the floor in pain.

The mysterious man in the grey suit appears beside him.

MYSTERIOUS MAN

I know what youre thinking (pause)

and you cant.

JACOB

But they deserve to die more than

anyone on the stupid list.

MYSTERIOUS MAN

You know that isnt true.

JACOB

(long pause) So whats to stop me

shooting them all right now?

25 Int. Warehouse Night

The door swings open with a loud screech. He steps in. The warehouse is

empty.

The room looks smaller somehow as he steps into the dark space. He

walks through the room stepping slowly, lazily. He walks across the empty

room and takes a sits on a chair in front of a large wooden box. On the

box lies a set of the red dice.

Jacob picks them up.

With a shake he rolls the dice. They land on the box. Two fives and a six.

JACOB

Sixteen.

He sighs.

JACOB

I dont know why Im even considering

this. (Pause) The Doctor wouldnt even

think about it. Hed never carry a gun.

Thats why he was always my hero.

Most kids grow up wanting to be like,

Superman or Batman or something like

that. (Long pause) Always wanted to

jump in a big blue box and fly away,

always been different.

He picks up the dice again.

JACOB

Every Saturday I make sure Im in. Only

thing I get excited about these days.

(Pause) I remember my favourite

episode. Well it was the creepiest

episode. River was back and the Doctor

was saving a new world from a group

of statues. (Chuckles) He always used

Jacob smiles to himself.

He shakes the dice. And rolls them again. The world slows as the bounce

across the wooden box.

JACOB

What if we had ideas that could think

for themselves? (Pause) What if oneday our dreams no long needed us?

are held to be true, the time will be

upon us (Pause) the time, of angels.

26 Int. Hallway Night

Jacob enters his living room door. He gently closes it being aware of the

time.

MOTHER

Jacob?

Without looking back to his mother he replies.

JACOB

Yeah sorry Im late.

MOTHER

Thats fine darlin. Are you ok?

(Exhales loudly) Yeah Im fine. Ive just

got a lot going on. Realised a lot in thelast couple of days just trying to make

sense of it all (Long pause) and then

Ive got something I need to do

apparently, just dont know whether I

will yet.

MOTHER

You seem lost darlin. I just hope you

make the right decision. And maybeeven if you dont think its something

you want to do it might be just

something you have to do.

JACOB

Yeah I suppose youre right.

MOTHER

But at the end of the day Ill be here for

you, whenever you need to speak.

JACOB

(Long pause) Thanks.

27 Int. Bedroom - Morning

Camera looks directly down at Jacob lying in bed. A blue quilt covers

almost all of his body as he stares emotionless up at the ceiling. The sound

of a ticking clock is the only sound that can be heard.

Jacob drags himself lifeless into the living room and falls to the sofa.

MOTHER

What dyou want for breakfast?

JACOB

Im not hungry.

MOTHER

Youve got to eat.

Jacob ignores her and sits silently on the sofa gazing into space.

29 Int. Hospital Ward Day

Jacob sits on the edge of Michaels bed once again. He stares down at the

floor with Michael looking as if he is expecting Jacob to say something.

JACOB

So when they letting you out of here?

MICHAEL

I have no idea.

JACOB

Thought you said it was just an

overnight thing, Just to see how you

was because you wacked your head.

MICHAEL

I thought so as well but I havent seen

a doctor today and nurses are pretty

much just ignoring me.

MICHAEL

(Laughs) There just busy I get it but still

dont like just sitting here.

JACOB

Its nothing Ive just got to decide

MICHAEL

Oh right well that clears it up. (Pause)

Well I decided something today. I

decided Im gunna live life once I get

out of here. Ive spent twenty nine

years doing nothing really and Im not

gunna waste my time anymore. This

place has taught me that.

JACOB

Jacob slowly approaches the warehouse.

The sun slowly sets behind him.

Jacob steps into the warehouse through the already open door. His feet

walk across the dusty floor. He walks into the centre of the room and

faces the list in the shadows. He switches on the light and the listilluminates again with the table still blocking the sixteenth name.

The mysterious man in the grey suit stands beside him.

MYSTERIOUS MAN

Youve taken your time.

JACOB

I had some thinking to do.

MYSTERIOUS MAN

I really dont understand why. You

know who they are.

JACOB

I didnt.

MYSTERIOUS MAN

But you do now.

Jacob nods.

MYSTERIOUS MAN

Jacob looks at the first name. Marcus Thompson. He breathes deep and

finally brings himself to answer.

JACOB

Yes (Long pause) Where is he?

CUT TO:

32 Ext. Alleyway Night

Two boys stand conspicuously in an alleyway. They stand in the darkness

with nothing but a streetlight at either end lighting it. Theyre both

dressed in dark coloured tracksuits.

Jacob stands at the end of the alleyway. The streetlight behind him hides

his face in shadows. He holds the gun. Its pointed down as he stands

watching.

The two boys suddenly turn to face him, only just realising hes there.

MARCUS

(Shouts) Boy, wha you doin there?

Jacob gives no reply.

Marcus takes a couple of steps forward.

MARCUS

(Shouts) Boy! Im talking to you.

Jacob raises the gun. Aims at Marcus

(Chuckles sadistically) Boy thinks justcos he got a piece Im gunna get shook.

Alright then rude boy take a shot.

Jacob shakes marginally.

Pulls the trigger.

Marcuss face looks shocked as his friend runs off towards the opposite

side of the alley. He holds the wound in his chest before collapsing to hisknees.

Jacob remains emotionless.

Lowers the gun.

Marcus collapses forwards. He lies still in a pool of his own blood. Jacob

blinks vigorously for a moment disbelieving. He puts the gun back down

the back of his trousers.

Silence.

CUT TO:

33 Int. Living Room Night

Jacob stands in the doorway of his living room with his mother sat on the

sofa watching TV. He looks sad.

MOTHER

So did you make that decision?

JACOB

Yeah.

Jacob shakes his head after an uncertain pause.

The sadistic smile remains.

JACOB

MYSTERIOUS MAN

Jacob remains looking at the floor. His eyes slowly move up and meet the

mans with a disgusted gaze.

The black Ford S-Max pulls up in the car park. Jacob, his mother and two

older brothers step out of the car. Jacob swings the backpack over one

shoulder.

JACOB

Mum, Im gunna go straight to the

warehouse. I wont be home too late.

MOTHER

Ok. Mind the roads.

CUT TO:

36 Int. Warehouse Day

Jacob walks into the warehouse and throws down the backpack with a

loud sigh. He walks across to the small wooden box and grabs a large

piece of white chalk. He walks over to the list on the wall. The first three

names are already crossed out. He uses the chalk to strike a line through

the fourth. Dominique Diallo.

JACOB

Four down. Twelve to go.

He walks over to the wooden box. He picks up the three dice and rolls

them. They land. A six and two threes.

The sound of the door screeching open booms through the room. Jacob

turns around startled looks confused. A woman steps in.

Dr Rachel Smith; 27 years old, brown hair, blue eyes, intelligent.

RACHEL

Hello Jacob. Im Doctor Rachel Smith. I

treated the cut on your head a coupleof weeks back.

JACOB

I remember you.

RACHEL

Good.

Theres a brief silence. Jacob looks at Rachel, who rubs her hands

together nervously, excepting her to speak.

JACOB

So why are you here?

RACHEL

Last time we met you told me

something. About the work youre

doing. (Long pause) Id like to know
