Thursday, November 3rd - 7:00 p.m. New Castle Public Library - “Ladies and Gentle- men: The Presidents of the United States.” Presented by Daniel Pritchett, the presentation uses portraits, photographs, cartoons, and presidential speeches to illustrate the history of the American presidency. For more info call 328-1995. Friday, November 4th, 5:00-8:00 p.m. First Friday Art Loop. Sip and snack in New Castle’s Downtown District. Wednesday, November 9th - 7:00pm. Courthouse Museum - Founding of America in One Year – 1781 - Historic Interpreter, Bob Vander Decker talks about the Revolutionary War in 1781. Free Ad- mission - 323-4453 What Can I Recycle? The September Crier included an article re- garding recycling, and the importance of keeping trash items out of your recycle contain- er. Due to mechanical problems not all residents received that newsletter. So, we are highlight- ing this important information again, and also letting you know that past issues of the newsletter are available on the City website, newcastleci- ty.delaware.gov under the Depart- ments tab. Please be aware, City workers will not empty any recycle bins that have non-recyclable materials or garbage in them. Keep these items OUT of your Recycling Cart Styrofoam * Motor Oil & Chemical Containers * Ceramics & Dishes * Lightbulbs * Window Glass & Mirrors * Yard Waste * Food Waste * Electronics * Plas- tic Bags/Plastic Film (you can take grocery bags back to the store) Pizza Boxes & Used Paper Goods Food and food residue is one of the worst contaminants in the recycling process. Please, only recycle paper products with no food residue. Check the “Cut and Save” poster on the back of the newsletter, a full sized printable copy is available on the City website. When in doubt call DSWA’s citizens’ response line at 1-800-404- 7080.

The City Code Enforcement Department helps to maintain and improve the quality of life of New Castle City residents by administering an unbiased enforce-ment program to correct violations of City zoning, property maintenance and building codes. Complaint forms are available on the City website at newcastleci-ty.delaware.gov or in the City offices; you can also call the Code Officer at 221-6507.

It Might be Fall, but You Still Need to Fight the Bite!

Stay vigilant towards mosquitos this fall. Keep your property free from standing water in tires and buckets.

Special trash pick-up: Is required for large and/or bulk items, such as refrigerators, dishwashers, TV’s, sofas, etc., fees apply. You may request a special trash pickup by calling 322-9801. Items are picked up on your regular trash day, and arrangements must be made and paid for prior to the pick-up day. To make arrangements for a special trash pick-up call 322-9801.

Please clean up after your animals, Defe-cation on public or private property prohibited; owner to remove feces. It shall be unlawful for any person to know-ingly permit their dog, cat or oth-er domestic animal to defecate upon any

street, sidewalk or park, or upon any public or pri-vate property within the City of New Castle without the consent of the owner or tenant of such private property.

Common property problems: a) Unregis-tered or inoperative vehicles; b) Trash accu-mulation; c) Indoor items stored outside; d) Parking on front lawn; e) Yard maintenance; f) Improperly stored trash/garbage or recy-cle containers; g) No displayed house numbers.

Leaf pick-up has started: City of New Castle residents may rake leaves from their property to the curbside for pick up by City personnel. No other material such as trash, branches, or stone, should be amongst the leaves.

10:15 a.m.—Livery of Seizen Ceremony: New Castle resident, Jim Whisman, will portray William Penn participating in the Livery of Seizen ritual in which the town and its sur-roundings were conveyed to him by the Duke of York's’ representatives.

11:00 p.m. DeBlokfluiters Concert: Recorder ensemble performance of 18th century music..

12:30 p.m. The Tryal of William Penn: A historical play about the 1670 trial of William Penn.

2:00 p.m. The Amazing Mrs. Penn: Jean Norvell por-trays Hannah Penn in this first person presentation of love and life with William Penn. 3:30 p.m. Repeat performance of The Tryal of Wil-liam Penn.

5:30 p.m. Concert by the Immanuel Bach Consort: Featuring Gary Harney, Harpsichord and Director, Sylvia Ahramjian, Baroque violin, and Fred Geiersbach, Baroque flute. Reservations are required.
