The Passover StoryOnce upon a time, the Jewish people lived in the land of Egypt. 1

The king, or Pharaoh, in Egypt needed people to build his pyramids.

He made the Jewish people into slaves where they worked hard in the hot sun.

A Jewish mother, named Yocheved, didn’t want her baby boy to be hurt.

Pharaoh’s daughter, the princess, found the baby boy and named him “Moses,” which means “drawn from the water.” 6

Moses grew up in a fancy palace living as a Prince in Egypt.

When Moses was older, he saw an Egyptian leader treating one of the Jewish slaves badly. 8

Moses stuck up for the Jewish slave and thought he might get in trouble, so he ran away.

He ended up in Midian where he became a shepherd and took care of many sheep.

One day, one of the sheep ran away from the flock, and when Moses chased after it, he spotted a burning bush.

As Moses got closer to the bush, he heard the voice of God say to him, “Go down to Egypt and tell Pharaoh to Let My People Go.” 12

Moses returned to Egypt to tell Pharaoh to “Let My People Go!” but Pharaoh just laughed and said, “No!” 13

Moses warned Pharaoh that there would be 10 plagues, but Pharaoh still said NO. 14

Ten bed things happened to the people of Egypt including frogs falling everywhere, but still Pharaoh said No! 15

Finally, Pharaoh told Moses to take the Jewish people out of Egypt. 16

Moses told everyone they must hurry, there was no time to waste! 17

As they were leaving Egypt, the Jewish people got stuck when they came to the Sea of Reeds.

Pharaoh and his army were right behind them.

There was not even time to let the bread rise. they were forced to leave with flat bread known as “matzah.”

Moses prayed to God about what to do.21

God told Moses, “Take your staff and hold it in front of the water.” 22

The water split and the Jewish people walked on dry land to the other side and sang and danced because they were free. 23
