Teaching methods & assessmentA range of teaching methods are employed:
Year 1: Lectures complemented by seminars and tutorials
Years 2 – 4: Lectures plus personal reading and support if andwhen required; case studies and exercises
The majority of units are assessed by formal exams while some are coursework-based.
Why do a work placement?
• The placement provides valuable experience of working life• It allows you to relate theory to practice• It enables you to make a better informed choice of modules when
returning to class in your final year • Develop your CV and your career opportunities• Many students go on to graduate jobs with their
placement provider• You can earn a salary - in 2009 our
students earned an average of £22,000 on their placement (per year, pro rata) and the highest salary was £36,000

Entry requirements• We look for applicants whose subject combinations demonstrate a
breadth of conceptual, numerical, analytical and discursive abilities. • This reflects our course content which demands a wide range of
skills including conceptual skills such as Economic Analysis andnumerical and technical skills such as Finance and Accounting.
• We have a strong emphasis on the balance between theory and application.
• Applicants must be able to write an argument well and be able tointerpret numerical information.
• We do not require previous study of a business-related subject and students taking a business-related subject will not be at an advantage.
