  • The Statue of Liberty is a majestic copper sculpture that towers above Liberty Island at the entrance of New York Harbor in Upper New York Bay.

  • The Statue of Liberty was built in New York City, in 1886 to remind us of our freedom in the United States.

  • The Statue of Liberty stands about 151 ft. from the base to the torch. Miss Liberty stands proudly on top of a 65 ft. tall foundation.

  • The Statue of Liberty was a gift from the French Government to the United States to honor the ideals of freedom and independence.

  • French citizens donated money to build the statue, and the people of the United States raised the funds to construct the foundation and the base.

  • The Statue of Liberty has become a symbol of the United States and an expression of freedom of people throughout the world.
