THE TITANS

A list all of all the Titans (and some other powerful deities)of Greek mythology

Page 2: The Titans

The Titans in generalThe Titans are the predecessors to the Olympian gods, not much is know about some of them. Each one represents a different “element” or “essential” such as light or water. Like the Olympians there are twelve important Titans and a few lesser ones. Many would call them “evil” but really there is nothing evil about them at all. One have given us fire and another have created the universe as we know it.

Page 3: The Titans

GaeaGaea is the earth titan, she married Uranus to produce the other titans. She created the universe and the first humans. She was rumored to be an earth- mother that was worshiped before the development of Hellenistic civilization.

UranusUranus is the titan of the sky and was the first ruler. He is the son of Gaea (he was born with no father and then married his mother.) His rule ended when one of his many children (Cronus) killed him. He either died of his wounds or departed from the world. (Uranus is the one on the throne on the right.)

Page 5: The Titans

CronusThe titan who took over the rule of the titans by killing his father Uranus. His wife was Rhea (she gave birth to the first Olympians) Cronus then ate all the ruling Olympians to ensure his rule. This then led to the war between the Titans and the Olympians.
