Computer Lab Exercise

Directions: Go to http://pathways.thinkport.org/following/. Read the page and click on the “go to theInteractive” link. Take the “Pathways to Freedom” journey. Begin by clicking on the word “Continue”under “Following the Footsteps.”

Answer the following questions as you go along, OR you can go back and answer them when you arefinished with the journey. Be sure to check your answers to make sure that they are correct!

1) What are some of the chores that you (the slave) are responsible for?

2) When slave families were sold, did the entire family go to the same place? If not, what happenedto them?

3) Where does Uncle Ephraim say is the only place that you will be truly free?

4) What do they hide the runaway slaves under in the wagon? Why do you think they do this?

5) What is the first city the runaway slaves come to?
