Vows

The man and his wife were both naked, and

they felt no shame.” Genesis 2:25

SHAME: to be ashamed; to

feel completely worthless.

“Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they

sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves…and they hid from the LORD… But the LORD God called to the man, "Where are you?" He answered, "I heard you in the

garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.“

Genesis 3:7-10  

SATAN’S SHAME GAME

You experience something deeply painful or sinful.

You connect what happened with who you are.

You believe the only way to be safe is to hide.

WHEREVER INTIMACY LIVES, SECRETS DIE.

 

WHEREVER SECRETS LIVE, INTIMACY DIES

VOW #1:  I PROMISE THAT GOD WILL BE MY #1 PRIORITY AND MY SPOUSE WILL BE MY #2.

 VOW #2:  I PROMISE I WILL ALWAYS PURSUE

MY TWO. 

VOW #3:  I PROMISE OUR MARRIAGE WILL BE ABOUT

“WE” AND NOT “ME”.  

VOW #4: I PROMISE TO CONFIDE IN YOU AND NOT HIDE FROM YOU.

DEFEATING THE DARKNESS WITH LIGHT

“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of

light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth)…

Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention

what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes

visible, 14 for it is light that makes everything visible.”

Ephesians 5:8-9, 11-14a

CONFESS YOUR SECRET.   RECEIVE ANY CONFESSIONS WITH GRACE.  PRAY TOGETHER/WITH SOMEONE.  COMMIT TO THE HEALING JOURNEY TOGETHER. 

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that

you may be healed. James 5:16
