The Wolf and Two Little Kids(Adapted version by Anis Munira)

Characters: 1. Narrator - The storyteller 2. The Wolf - The villain 3. Mother Sheep - The kids mother 4. The First Kid - Older brother to the second kid 5. The Second Kid - Younger to the first kid 6. Mr. Elephant - The lemon tree owner 7. Mrs. Rhino - The housewifeACT 1Scene 1 Narrator : When I went hunting last year, I bumped into an aborigine man. He told me a story about a bad wolf. Do you want to hear what he told? This is not gossiping time, its story time. (In the house owned by a sheep family: mother sheep, first kid and second kid) Narrator : Once upon a time, there live a mother sheep with two little kids. One day, she wanted to go into the woods to get some food. Before that, she called her kids to give some advice.Mother Sheep : Children dear, I am going into the woods to get some food. Do not let anyone in, especially the wolf. Be on your guard for him because if he gets in, he will eat all of you, even your skin and hair. You will recognize him by his rough voice and his black feet.The two kids : Dont worry mother, we can take care of ourselves.Narrator : The mother sheep went into the wood peacefully. (The wolf is watching from a bush near the house. He looks very hungry yet happy because mother sheep is going to leave the house)The Wolf : (Monologue) Ehm the mother sheep looks juicy. I bet her kids must be juicer and delicious.(The wolf quickly went to the house)The wolf : (Knocks the door) Children dear, open the door. Your mother is here and I bring something special for each of you.(The kids who are playing video games look at each other, looking very surprised)The first kid : Someone is here! Lets open the door.The second kid : Stop! Dont you remember what mother told us? The first kid : Yeah. I forgot. Do not simply open the door for strangers. (The wolf waits impatiently because he is very hungry)The Wolf : Children dear, what took so long? I brought your favorite food. Quick, let me in!The second kid : Listen, this strangers voice is very rough. Our mothers voice is soft and gentle.Wolf : Open, open, open ! The two kids : We will not open the door! You are not our mother. She does not have a rough voice like yours. You are the wolf!The wolf : (Monologue) How can they possibly find out? Ahh.. it is my voice. I need to do something to make it soft. Maybe lemon is helpful.Scene 2(Mr.Elephant is planting a mango tree at his backyard)Mr. Elephant : Hey! What are you doing in my backyard? Are you trying to steal my fruits? How dare you.The wolf : No, no. Actually I wanted to ask for your permission. Can I take one of your lemons to treat my sickness? Im having a sore throat.Mr. Elephant : Oh, really? Well then, you may take one.The wolf : Thank you so much Mr. Elephant.Mr. Elephant : You are welcome.(The wolf leaves Mr. Elephants house and skipping happily along his way to the sheeps house)Narrator : The wolf squeezed the lemon juice into his mouth and swallowed it.The wolf : (Monologue) Ah.. ah.. Wow! It is working. It is better for me to go the sheeps house before my voice turns to normal tone.Narrator : The wolf goes to the sheeps house happily.Scene 3(The wolf is standing in front of the sheeps house. He is very happy with his new voice)The wolf : (Knocks at the door) Children dear, it is me, your mother. Please let me in. The two kids: (Look at each other) Mother!The first kid : Brother, look. (Pointing at the paw through the keyhole)The second kid : Oh, no! That is not our mother. She does not have black and huge paw like that.The first kid : Hey bad wolf! You cannot cheat us. We can see your black paw.The wolf : (Monologue) These kids are so clever. It is very hard to eat them. I think it is better for me to go home.(The wolf once again gets angry and at the same time disappointed with himself)Narrator :With disappointment, he went back home. On his way, he smelled delicious bread from Mrs. Rhinos house. The wolf : (Sniffing) (Monologue) Ehmm it smells so good.The wolf : (Monologue) I could ask some flour from Mrs. Rhino so that I put it on my paws to make them white.Scene 4(At Mrs. Rhinos house who is a hardworking housewife)The wolf : Hi Mrs. Rhino. Are you baking bread? It smells so good.Mrs. Rhino : Hi. Yes, Im making it for my children. Why does your voice sound very soft? What happened?The wolf : (Clearing his throat) I am having a sore throat. Mrs. Rhino : Oh really? By the way, do you want to have some bread? I made a lot.The wolf : It is okay, thank you. I just want to learn making breads by myself. If you dont mind, can you give me some flour? Mrs. Rhino : Sure. It is my pleasure. I got a lot of flour in my house. Here.(The wolf with white paws goes back to the sheeps house while thinking of the tasty kids)Scene 5(At the sheeps house)The wolf : (Humming happily) This time, for sure those kids will open the door when they see my white paws.The two kids : (Look at each other)The first kid : That must be the wolf. Just ignore him. The wolf : Children, it is your mother. Im very tired searching food for you. Please, let me in.The second kid: What if it is our real mother. What if the wolf come back and eats her?The first kid : (Thinking) You are right. Lets take a look through the keyhole.The two kids : (Look at each other) It is our mother!The wolf : Hi kids. Why do you look so surprise? It is me, your mother. Hahahaha.

(The wolf is in pain as he closes his eyes while screaming)The wolf : (Scream with pain) How dare you! I am going to eat all of you at once.The wolf : (Rubs his eyes) Where did you hide kids? Do you think you can fool me? Never!The wolf : There you are. You wont feel any pain. I will make it quick.The first kid : (Scream loudly) NoThe wolf : (Sniffing) Where are you kid? (The second kid is very afraid as he is shaking until and it makes the cupboard moves)The second kid : (Trembling with fear) The wolf : (Sniffing around the cupboard) Ehmm.. I smell juicy meat in here.Narrator : The wolf opened the cupboard and swallowed the second kid. Then, he went back to his house and felt asleep.Act 2Scene 1(Mother sheep returns home and she is very surprised with what she discovered)Narrator : When mother sheep came back home, she was very shocked to see the door was wide opened. Mother sheep : It was the wolf! He must have taken my kids away. I need to do something. Scene 2(At the wolf house)Narrator : Mother sheep went to the wolfs house and peeked through the keyhole. She saw him sleeping with his big stomach.Mother sheep : Oh my God! He must have eaten my children. Narrator : Suddenly, she saw his stomach moving. She was very happy thinking of her children still alive. Then, Mother Sheep sneaked around the wolfs house and slowly cut open the wolfs stomach. The kids jumped out of his stomach happily.The two kids : Mother! (Hug their mother) we are so happy to see you. We are sorry for not listening for your advice. We shouldnt have opened the door.Mother sheep : (Hugs them back) My lovely children. It is okay. I shouldnt have left you two at home. Mother Sheep : Children, bring those pillows here. I want to stuff them inside the wolfs stomach.(The kids take the pillows and give them to their mother)Narrator : Mother Sheep stitched the pillows inside the wolfs stomach. Then, she brought her children home. The sleeping wolf finally wakes up. His stomach aches badly when he tries to walk. He was sick for a week without realizing there were pillows inside his stomach. At last, the wolf died because of the pain. The Mother Sheep and the kids lived happily ever after. Dearies, listen to your parents and do not hurt others.
