Thermoplastics…

The great range of thermoplastic materials madeby Minke, offer a wide range of application. Due to the different characteristics, our materialscover nearly all orthopedic supplies. Different material compositions put together sandwich-like,lead to much more material characteristics.

This is why orthopedic replacements completelyfit the patient’s needs. For a simpler apply, all articles are given with their range of applicationand manufacturing details. All materials are made by wiping action or deepdrawing process in the VACUTHERM.

Thermoplastics and other materials

Wiping actionMaterial is cut out off the plasticin the proper size...

...afterwards, it is activated inthe oven with the material specific temperature.

The activated thermoplastic is put onto the last or the plaster model...

...and is crimped underneaththe crimping-mat of the VACUTHERM (possible forma-tions of wrinkles can be evenedout with a crimping hammer).

After a short cool-down period, the thermoplastic has taken onthe form and can be taken off.

Following materials can be used for the wiping action:THERMIT, MAX, CORITH, PRYX, TEPP 2, VELLON, VELLORA

Attention: some thermoplastics are coated with hot-melt adhesive on one side; these should beprocessed together with the other materialsfor the sandwich-building of the same product, for example an inlay, in the samestep of the wiping action.

The deep drawing processThe materials are inserted intothe stretching frame of the VACUTHERM and heated underthe spots.

Then, the hot material is positioned above the form and a vacuum is produced. This pro-cess is called “deep drawing”.

After a short cool-down period, the thermoplastic has taken on the form and can be takenoff the stretching form of the VACUTHERM.

Following materials can be used for the deep drawingprocess: DEUSITH, PRYX, and PLANOFORM.

THERMIT

● stiffening material for a high strength at low volumes(1,5 and 1,8 mm)

● coated with hot-melt adhesive on one-side

● high capacity of resistance already with one layer

● higher firmness due to sandwich-building (multiple THERMIT layers)

● processing temperature: 160-170°C

● no hazardous substances

● adhesive layer free of solvents

● activation in the oven, very short crimping period (15 sec.)

● no smearing of scouring band while regrinding

Thermoplastic crimping non-woven – used as a stiffener inbedding and inlay buildings or for extreme stiffening of toecaps or front parts and firm counters.

RO-RA 35

And the adhesion of PRYX anti-static? – No problem! The special anti-static adhesive RO-RA 35 has a good adhesive power with an extremely low volume resistance capacity and a high gas and acid proof. The testing institutePFI certifies these qualities! With a volume resistance capacity of 3,0 x 10_ RO-RA 35 is far below the demands ofthe adhesion of anti-static shoes (105-109 according to DIN EN 344-1, 4.3.4). The strength of the adhesion (DIN EN 1392) is not influenced by gas and acid position.

CROCITHThe latest development in the field of thermoplasts. This material is distinguished by amazing processingcharacteristics. In the activated state, CROCITH displaysan unbelievable degree of stretch elasticity. This readilyfacilitates mouldings around even highly curved segments.Whether it is a matter of a front cap, rear cap, peroneustreatment, arthrodesis cap, or shell insole – CROCITHcan always be processed soft and free of wrinkles.

When cooled, CROCITH shows impressive stabilizingproperties, even in single layers (material thickness:1.7 mm) combined with maximum rupture resistance!
