anvas prints allow you to beautify your home or workplace without

spending too much. These offer a much durable alternative to posters

and paper prints.

There are plenty of canvas prints you can choose from but they generally fall under

three categories. The first one are stock canvas prints, which are prints of stock

images like photographs or paintings that have been mass produced and distributed

in different locations. They are typically affordable due to economies of scale. The

second category is custom or personalized canvas prints. These prints are produced

using your own images or artwork. A lot of companies offer custom canvas photo

prints and many of them have websites where you can upload the image that you

would like printed. You may also send the image via email. The last category is

limited edition canvas prints. These are usually more expensive and are carefully

produced directly from an artist’s work. In many cases, these are printed under the

artist’s supervision. They usually come with a certificate to indicate that it is a

limited edition print.

Resolution - Image output resolution is a key consideration when buying

canvas prints. The higher the dots per inch, the greater the quality of the image will

be. However, it is important to note that a higher resolution image will take longer

to print and consume more ink, so while the quality will improve, expect to pay a

heftier price tag for these pieces, too. Canvas photo prints are usually done at

around 1440 dots per inch. If you want a custom canvas print, ask the seller for

advice about the ideal output resolution so that your image will have satisfactory

quality.

Type of ink used - There are

two general types of inks used in

canvas photo prints, namely dye inks

and pigment inks. Dye ink is less

expensive in general and also have a

wider color gamut so pieces

produced using this type of ink tend

to be brighter and richer. However, dye inks don’t do so well under sunlight and

they can fade within a matter of weeks. The second type, pigment inks, provides a

much narrower color gamut but they are less susceptible to UV damage. When

cared for properly and when not placed in an area that is hit by direct sunlight,

prints that use high-grade pigment inks can last a lifetime with minimal fading.

Print material - Canvas prints are either printed on cotton or polyester.

Polyester canvases are cheaper to produce and thus are more pocket-friendly.

However, images printed on polyester canvases are more prone to cracking since

the ink just rests on the surface instead of penetrating the fabric, as in the case of

cotton canvases.
