• General admission requirements:

1. Previous studies

A completed Bachelor's degree from an institution of higher education recognized by government or accredited by other recognized organisation.

2. Language requirements

A good knowledge of written and spoken English. TOEFL test scoreof min. 550 (213 in the computer-based test, 79 in the internet-based test) or an IELTS score of at least 6.0

Structure

French, German or Spanish:

• Three first years language for 45 credits (7,5+ 9+9) which equals 1 semester and a half semester;

• between 3rd and 4th year, summer ”culture course”;

• 4th year: half a semster abroad for language immersion.

Japanese/Chinese:

• First four years: 30 credits (6+6+9+9) of language and culture;

• Year five: one semester abroad with language and culture

• and one semester of final degree thesis or course on the

desired language.

Language of instruction

• The main language in Sweden and at KTH is Swedish

• KTH offers a large number of courses and Master’s

programmes in English

• Students and staff at KTH all speak English

• No problem living in Sweden knowing only English

• Swedish language courses available at KTH for those who

wish to learn some Swedish

Swedish language courses

� KTH Unit for Language and Communication offers Swedish

language courses free of charge

� Includes introduction to Swedish culture

� The Swedish courses are divided into four levels:

- Elementary

- Advanced beginners

- Intermediate

- Advanced Swedish

� Courses offered during the whole academic year. Distance-

learning courses are also available for exchange/master’s

students!
