Dear Church Family,

I know it’s already February, but 2014 still feels new and full of possibilities. It almost seems as if there’s a blank slate before us and it’s our task to make a mark for the glory of God. My heart is filled with anticipation and excitement as I consider all that God has in store for us. As I look at the wonderful things that God has done in our church, I am only encouraged about the amazing things God has in store for the future. I truly believe that our best days are ahead and I am excited to walk this path with you as we follow the Lord.

As you look throughout this monthly magazine you will find all sorts of important information about events and activities coming up in the next few weeks. Remember, this is the Year of Connect where we will focus on getting members connected, re-connecting, and making new connections. Get plugged in to the ministry here at Second, reach out to those God puts in your path, and invite your friends, neighbors, and family members to be part of what God is doing here.

Men, make your plans now to be a part of our Beast Feast on March 14th. We have the privilege of hosting Dr. Paige Patterson, President of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Patterson will also be with us in our AM and PM worship services on March 16th. Mark your calendars now and plan to be with us on this special day.

As a follow-up to our Answers in Genesis Conference at the end of January, I will begin a brand new preaching series entitled Origins that will take us through the first three chapters of Genesis. This series begins on February 2nd and will cover important topics such as creation, evolution, marriage, family, sin, and redemption. Also, we will continue our series on Sunday evenings entitled Life By The Book as we study the entire chapter of Psalm 119. Sunday nights are incredible here at Second. Believe me, you don’t want to miss them!

As I conclude my letter to you this month, I want to challenge you in three major areas:

1. Attend Worship and Sunday School faithfully. You were created for community and God intends the Christian life to be lived in relationship with other believers. You can never be what God desires you to be all by yourself. The church provides a place for you to develop relationships with others and deepen your relationship with Christ.

2. Grow in your personal walk with Christ. Attending church and Sunday School will never be a substitute for personal time with God. I want to encourage you to grow deeper in your walk with Christ on a daily basis. Dive into the Word and into prayer faithfully and consistently. Find a Bible reading plan that challenges you – we have made some available at the Welcome Center. Read a devotional book that draws you closer to the Lord. Spend time with God each day and watch Him change your life!

3. Reach out to those around you. It’s easy to focus on our own needs and ignore the needs of others. Ask God to give you a desire to reach out to others around you. I want you to identify those that God has placed in your sphere of influence, invest in their lives on a consistent basis, invite them to church and introduce them to Jesus.

Serving as your pastor is one of the greatest joys of my life. I’m praying that God makes 2014 the greatest year of impact and ministry our church has ever seen. Remember, we can change the world from Warner Robins, GA!

Camp Grace in Roberta, GA

This year’s D’Now is going to be incredible! We are going to be loading up the buses and heading out to Camp Grace in Roberta, GA, on Friday, March 7th and Saturday, March 8th.

The cost for this event is $70 including your $25 deposit if you register before January 26th! The cost increases after February 9th to $85 and then $100 after February 19th, which is the deadline to sign up.
