MAKING DISCIPLES WHO LIVE BY GOD’S GRACE AND FOR HIS GLORY AT HOME AND ACROSS THE WORLD

God Story My CORE Group

This Month at FellowshipMissions Spotlight Passport to Success The Kannards: Italy

2014

MY CORE GROUP | BY BRUCE HENRYThe Core group that I am a part of has been nothing short of amazing. It has been so encouraging to be with a group of guys who want to pursue Christ at a deep level.

Our group has caused me to press deeper into the all-sufficient Christ and to find that in His presence alone is fullness of joy. We were dead before Christ moved in us and made us alive. To really own that we did nothing to deserve, earn or move towards God is very freeing. He gets the glory; I get the joy. The only thing that I brought to the table was the sin that made my salvation necessary.

God has been deconstructing religion in me - and our Core group has been a significant part of that ongoing process. I know that my performance is poor, but bask all the more in the perfect record of Christ. He is perfect so when I fail He says there is “no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” To embrace these things leads to the abundant life that Jesus promised.

What has been the most impactful about our Core group is an ever-increasing vision of our God that is holy, sovereign and good. God has never once said, “I didn’t see that coming,” or “what am I going to do now?” This is so comforting as I live in a fallen and broken world that is full of pain and suffering. God has a purpose for everything– EVERYTHING. God does work ALL THINGS FOR GOOD and not just for people in the Bible, but for me and for you. These have become the great foundations of my faith– that God is sovereign over ALL THINGS and that He does good for His children. This has created an anchor in my soul that stays firm regardless of how rough life gets!

We would love for you to get connected at Fellowship. Here are some easy ways to get involved:

FELLOWSHIP NEXTThis class meets Sunday, February, 16, 11 am-1 pm, in the Station and is hosted by our teaching pastors. You’ll hear about:

• our mission of discipleship

• our strategy for growing as disciples of Jesus and making disciples

• our ministries and how you can get more connected

• the steps you can take to join Fellowship as a member

We’ll gather for lunch and conversation as we get to know one another and answer any questions you may have. Childcare is provided.

D GROUPSThe key strategy we use for being and making disciples is our small groups, which we call D Groups (short-hand for Discipleship Groups). We have three types of D Groups: Core Groups, Connect Groups, and Care Groups. Visit fellowshiponline.com/dgroups to get more information about the groups and to join one, or stop by the Connection Center.

BAPTISMBaptisms are some of our favorite events at Fellowship because we get to acknowledge public decisions to follow Christ. If you’re interested in taking this important step, email baptism@fellowshiponline. Our next scheduled Baptism Class is February 2 at 11 am in the Station.

STAY ENGAGEDIn addition to our weekly bulletin and monthly calendar, you’ll find the latest information and registration at fellowshiponline.com or on our MyFellowship App available for Apple, Android and Windows phones.

Join us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to get regular updates on all the happenings here at Fellowship.

THIS MONTH AT FELLOWSHIP

MISSIONS: AT HOME AND ACROSS THE WORLD

PASSPORT TO SUCCESSGod has very clearly led Fellowship to dive deeply into ministry in the South Midtown area of Little Rock. Tyler Street Opportunity Center is a place that allows families to come and be discipled as well as be a disciple to others through the awesome programs offered throughout the week.

While students are learning through the after school program Passport to Success, families are connecting with other families throughout the month at a fun dinner gathering called Family Connection.

Since the program began in 2008, students’ reading scores have increased, behavior in the school and at home has become better and they have developed strong character traits that will take them far in their community and throughout their lives. Families are building genuine sustainable relationships with other families that would not have developed before meeting at a Family Connection dinner. These friendships have grown stronger over the years.

We need you to volunteer! Call LaShanna today at 224-7171 to get signed up.

THE KANNARDS: NAPLES, ITALYNaples is home to approximately 2.4 million people and is considered to be one of the most densely populated cities in Western Europe. Clay and Lauren Kannard joined an established team of World Venture missionaries actively seeking the lost in a country that is only 1.1% evangelical, and where there is only one properly trained evangelical pastor for every 250,000 Italians. Italy has a population of 60.4 million people. It is 90-95% Roman Catholic but only 5-10% attend mass regularly. While it has been “Christianized,” Italy has not been evangelized.

The Kannards are serving at Il Faro International Baptist Church, and are the first missionary family to live in this community. The church is active in serving through community groups, evangelistic outreaches, a food-bank for the hungry, a women’s ministry that is actively pursuing victims of human trafficking, and a school of Theology.

Please pray for the Kannards to have opportunities to share the Gospel. Pray for Italians to know God’s saving grace, not through an institution or ritual, but through Jesus and a relationship with Him.
