8:30 am – 10:00 am Morning Plenary Presented by: Wells Fargo Prepare to ProsperThe wealth gap continues to grow. In fact, by the year 2053, the Net Worth of the African American community is projected to hit $0. In this session, participants will learn the importance of wealth building and the difference between having money and building wealth. Session leaders will discuss strategies young leaders can employ to change their financial trajectory and build a foundation for their future and their future generations.

10:15 am – 11:30 am Morning Concurrent Sessions

Discussion Points:• Foundational understanding of wealth in America• Productive uses of money• Calculating net worth• Wealth building strategies for all income levels• Generational wealth• Consumers versus wealth building behaviors• Best practices

At the completion of this session, students should understand factors that contribute to Net Worth along with practical strategies that can be used to build Net Worth starting today.

Get In The Box by Thinking Out Of The Box Most college students imagine their first job will include a cool workspace in a major city with numerous cultural and social activities. Sometimes, though, the best opportunity may begin in places rarely considered and far from the places we imagined. During this session, plenary leaders will discuss core competencies needed to advance at each level of the organization. Session leaders will also discuss why developing these competencies may mean getting out of your comfort zone and accepting assignments that were not part of your original career plans.

1:30 pm – 2:45 pm Afternoon Concurrent Sessions Discussion Points:• Model behaviors that demonstrate readiness for Manager, Director, VP, EVP• How to get on the fast track• The importance of career flexibility• The benefits of taking unique assignments • Strategies for living in new and unfamiliar places• Evaluating project opportunities and knowing when to say no• How to avoid the career idling/Behaviors that stall careers

After this session, students should be able to chart a career path based on key behaviors and competencies needed to advance within an organization. Students should also be equipped with tools to evaluate their fit for assignments that take them out of their comfort zone.

Employees that want to win at work must master a set of soft skills that will help them to createnew processes, drive innovation, and lead teams. In this session, Boeing Executive Leaders will discuss how being both smart and curious can help young leaders become productive employees that add value and ultimately get noticed at work.

How to Say It at WorkSmart leaders understand that communication involves much more than determining how to say somethingbut also covers the timing of sharing a message and the sequence of relaying the message to people on theteam. In this session, plenary leaders will discuss principles of effective communication at work and why being thoughtful about your approach can help you get ahead and stay ahead.

1:30 pm - 2:45 pm Afternoon Simulation Exercises

Case Study:Using company scenarios that:• Identifies communication practices and norms within an organization• Highlights how power structures within an organization influence communication• Contrasts poor versus proper communications via email, speaking during a meeting, communications with coworkers and clients• Highlights best practice phrases for difficult and/or sticky situations• Provides guidance on workplace etiquette (What do we keep to ourselves and what do we share)

At the conclusion of this session, students should be equipped to employ communication strategies that willstrengthen their personal brand while improving overall effectiveness in the workplace.

In this session, students will hear from leaders who will share how to navigate race and gender in the workplace.

The high demand for diversity in the c-suite has created significant opportunities for men of color to rise through the ranks of Corporate America. However, managing the delicate balance of being part of the gender majority and racial minority, continues to create pitfalls for young professionals. During this session, students will learn strategies that experienced professionals have used to navigate these complex issues on their wayto the c-suite.

Foundation of Successful Leaders The Tortoise and the Hare is a great story that highlights how focus and intention often wins over quick andboastful. Like the Hare, young leaders are often anxious to make their mark at the beginning of a new career.In this session, participants will learn foundational attributes of successful leaders (respect, resourcefulness,curiosity, competence, and tenacity), the tactics that can be used to develop them within their daily tasks and projects, and the importance of pacing oneself for the bigger projects and more visibility.
