Program Overview

• Truckers Insurance Exchange (TIE) was developed in 2013for the 15,000 members that make up the National Association ofIndependent Truckers (NAIT).

• TIE is a marketplace of personal insurance plans, trucker-relatedservices and discounts…a one-stop-shop for today’s self-employedtrucker to go for insurance and benefits.

• Contractors that participate also become members of NAIT. It isthat membership that gives them access to these insurance offers,therefore keeping the motor carrier at arms length.

• TIE handles the marketing, enrollment and administrative dutiesthroughout the year.

• Contractors utilize a single toll-free number for questions, quotesand enrolling at implementation and throughout the year.

NAIT: Benefits of Membership

National Association of Independent Truckers (NAIT) wasfounded in 1981 to support the needs of independent contractor smallbusiness owners in the trucking industry.

Over the years NAIT has established long-term partnerships withproviders, like Truckers Insurance Exchange, which share its dedication tothe industry.

TIE: Health Insurance

• The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires that most individuals owncompliant health insurance or pay a penalty. In 2016, that penalty is2.5% of family income.

• ACA can have a positive impact on self-employed truckers.However, many drivers that deal with medical conditions elect to gouninsured.

• New data indicates many contractors could reduce premiums withsubsidies.
