Y Challenge

The opulent Tilal Liwa Hotel which is owned by Danat Hotel Group, is located in Abu Dhabi and is situated on the border of the Rub Al Khali Desert. This is the largest sand desert in the world and sometimes referred to as the ‘Empty Quarter’. The tranquil setting adds to the luxury of this magnificent hotel.

As part of a major refurbishment programme the hotels aim was to eradicate the noise created by service trolleys and guests when passing through the corridors, whilst still incorporating many of the Arabic traditions and culture.

Newhey worked closely with the interior designers, Inter Décor Furnishings LLC to design and manufacture the perfect carpet which would eliminate the noise issues.

Design Solution

It was decided that Colortec+ would be the perfect solutions for the hotel. The guestrooms corridors were refurbished in late 2014 with Newhey’s Colortec+ construction, a product which is tufted using computer yarn placement technology. The carpet features high quality 80% wool 20% nylon hank dyed pile yarns and is a cost effective, durable solution for guestroom corridors.

The design studio at Newhey’s head office in Rochdale used 3 colours to create the textured effect and a border to compliment the design.

Newhey manufactured over 1000 square metres of lavishly designed carpet which incorporates ‘evobac’ the world’s first ever revolutionary secondary backing system, this offers an eco-friendly option as it is made using 100% recycled plastic bottles.

The carpet designs were chosen to match the calming location and atmosphere of the hotel and fit in perfectly with the overall luxury of the complex.
