Introduction: The Power of Self‐Discipline This year a vast number of people will attempt to begin a career in Internet Marketing, and become online entrepreneurs. With any new endeavor comes a burst of creative energy and excitement. The wheels are in full gear. As the days wear on, however, initial enthusiasm can often fade as the realities of owning a business begin to sink in. Any strategy for long‐term success must necessarily include a way to sustain the self‐discipline required to succeed. A lack of self‐discipline is one of the primary reasons some individuals fail at creating their own business. Ironically, great success in the early stages of Internet Marketing can actually lead to great failures down the road. The marketer starts to think it is an easy game, and what I refer to as the “Guru Syndrome” takes hold. The guru angle is much overused in Internet Marketing. You’ve seen it a thousand times. In their pitch the gurus represent themselves as living the good life. They vacation 50 weeks out of the year. They own a fleet of sports cars. With that many cars to wax, who has time to work? What they project via their slick video squeeze pages is a carefree life where the subliminal message is “Buy my program and you won’t have to work!” Incoming message from Debbie Downer: if you want to succeed as an Internet Marketer you’re going to have to work as hard at building your business as you would if you started a restaurant or a sporting goods store. Internet business is still business – and in its first stages, it requires work. The thing about owning your own business is that you have no one to supervise your efforts. You’re the boss. If you decide to push work aside today and hit the pub, no one is going to stand in your way. Being your own boss is a double‐edged sword. The very freedom you enjoy to make your own hours, sleep in if you want to, or take those sweet days off can affect your success if you lack self‐discipline. So balance would be the key.
Now, if the idea of “self‐discipline” sounds like something scary to you…just relax, because the idea of self‐discipline I’m proposing here is different to what you may think or may have heard until now… What Self‐Discipline Really Is: Most people have a wrong perception and believe self‐discipline is a form of pushing yourself to do the things you are supposed to do. Self discipline does NOT mean working against yourself, but working with yourself in the attainment of your purpose. It means aligning your goals and priorities with your self‐image and your daily work. It means bringing harmony at all levels and building genuine motivation to do the things you are supposed to do. So here are 33 secrets to: work smarter, not harder enjoy peace of mind and increased levels of energy get things done quicker and more efficiently slash your time waste by 10x laugh at your competition enjoy more money, more time and more life while taking your online
marketing business from where you are to where you want to be This report has been written specifically for internet marketers and online business owners. Most of the advice pertains to what we do on a daily basis. I would also like to personally thank Steve Pavlina (who wrote some of the tips contained in this book) – for being kind enough to license his content. So enjoy the powerful advice in this report and put it to good use, one day at a time. To your Online Business Success,

1. Focus on Results Instead of Activity Being busy is not necessarily being productive. Busy people tend to have a lot of projects going on at the same time. Productive people also have multiple irons in the fire, but they stay to task and narrow their focus to the task they are working on at the moment. Monotasking is scientifically proven to increase your efficiency and focus your brain power.Successful people don’t make “to‐do lists”. They make results lists. Try this exercise for a week. Instead of making a list of what you need to accomplish on a given day, make a list at the end of the day of the results you produced. This will give you some perspective about how you are managing your time. Have you ever heard the term “busy as a bee”? You might do well to remember that a honeybee’s activity is all dedicated to a single result….making honey. The bee works with a singular purpose, and so should you. Your purpose is to grow your business.
2. Reward Yourself for Being Diligent

You should always keep a healthy work/life balance. No one likes to feel as if they are working all of the time with no reward. Successful owners of large businesses realize this and they make it a point to reward their employees for a job well done. Several years ago I had the opportunity to work as a groom for thoroughbred racehorses. It was hard work. Periodically, the trainer of the racing

stable would have a cookout right in the barn. Everything stopped as he took a few moments to reward us for our labor. Just because you own your business and only have one employee—you— doesn’t mean you shouldn’t reward yourself for getting things done. Just remember, you have to produce results to qualify for the reward. Take out your planner or PDA and make a list of three projects you need to get done this week. What are three results you need to produce? Next, write down a reward for getting them done. Play golf. Go fishing. Treat yourself. No results, no reward.
3. Work In Small Blocks Instead of a Huge Chunk Online business involves a lot of work with the computer. In the early days of your business – when you don’t have a system in place – you’re going to be tempted to do it all: programming, SEO, writing email swipes, designing web pages, and a hundred other tasks that you can’t “afford” to outsource. All of that amounts to a lot of time spent sitting in front of the computer. Instead of sitting there until you lose focus and start checking the stats on your fantasy sports team, get up every hour or so and take a ten minute break. This is no different than taking a break on a 9‐5 job. Have a snack or take a walk, but don’t let that break stretch out into an hour. It might help to set an alarm on your mobile phone or watch to remind you to get back to work.
4. Mute the Social Media Turn off your instant messaging, Skype, and log out of your social networks when you’re working on a project that needs to be completed. The world will not evaporate in the hour it will take you to build your squeeze page. Our friends and family mean no harm when they interrupt us to share a video of a pig eating corn flakes with a spoon on YouTube, but that stuff will wait. Trust me. The pig will still be eating when you are
done, and he has probably gone viral.
5. “Time Blocking”: The #1 Productivity Secret Before I introduce you to the magic of the time blocking method, let me tell you why I see it as the #1 productivity secret. After compiling this whole list of strategies I asked myself: “What would be The ONE piece of advice out of all of this report that – IF my reader (meaning YOU!) implemented right now – would bring an immediate increase in results in their online business?” Although many of the strategies in this report will prove to be incredibly effective when applied, this deceivingly simple method will slash your time waste and increase the amount of action you take. One of the greatest challenges you will ever face as an Internet Marketer is managing your time in an effective way and taking constant, consistent action to propel you forward. Sometimes, it gets pretty overwhelming to have six or seven items on the stove at the same time. Something is going to get burned, and that something is your online business. So How Do We Avoid That? Time‐blocking is simply the act of working in uninterrupted spurts. You designate a specific “block of time” to a specific task and work only on that task until the time has expired. When done properly, time‐blocking forces you to monotask, and the benefits are incredible. Your productivity will soar when you master this technique. Have you ever tried to read or work on an airplane during a long trip? Did you notice how productive you are in that situation? Why is that? It is because you have no distractions. There are no papers on your desk, no ringing mobile phone,

no Twitter — nothing to interfere with your focus on the task at hand. Time-blocking reduces distractions by eliminating them. There is a myth that multi‐tasking is a sign of someone who is a real go‐getter. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Studies have proven that multi‐tasking actually lowers the IQ and wastes some of your precious brain power. In other words, it makes you more stupid and far less efficient than you are capable of being when you actually focus on something to get it done. Busy and productive are two VERY different things. So Here’s How to Do It:
The process is very simple. All you need is a kitchen timer and a willingness to work. Here is a step‐by‐step method:
(1) Clear your workspace. Eliminate all clutter and visual noise. Only leave the thing which requires your immediate attention.
(2) Close all of the windows on your computer and disconnect from the
Internet. Turn off the mobile phone (don’t just put it on vibrate—that’s cheating). Remove every possible distraction from your workspace.
(3) Set aside 30-45 minutes to work only on your designated task. Go to the
bathroom before you start the time block or do whatever else you need to do to remain focused on your task for the set timeframe.
(4) Start your timer and go to work. Stay on course until the time is up.
(5) That’s it! When the time is up, get up and take a well‐deserved break.
Notice how much you have advanced in your task.
A Few Time‐Blocking Tips:
► Resist any and all temptations to get distracted. You will find in the beginning that you will encounter a lot of resistance from your body. Why? Because the mind is like a spoiled child; it will resist all attempts at control. The mind is crafty, too. It will suddenly create an itch or a discomfort that
makes you feel like standing up and moving around. Don’t give in. With just a little practice you will notice that these things become less frequent as the mind realizes it can monotask and produce superb results.
► In the beginning you will find it beneficial to work in very small blocks of
time. 30 minutes would be a good starting point. As you increase your ability to focus you can begin to extend that time frame. It will do you no good to begin by trying to accomplish a one hour block; you’ll just get frustrated and want to quit. Start small and increase in small increments.
► Keep a glass of water nearby and drink plenty of it. Water
is the elixir of life. It creates electrolytes and has a ton of other benefits, and you need to be drinking more of it anyway, don’t you? Having a glass nearby will also foil the mind when it tries to convince you that you’re thirsty and need to run to the kitchen for a drink.
Productivity boils down to a simple skill: the ability to focus on a given task for whatever time is necessary to complete that task. If you want to start getting that to‐do list done, start focusing on results instead of activity. Results are what we’re after in our business. Tools You Can Use:
► The Action Machine – a piece of software designed specifically to keep you productive that helps you organize your blocks of time and plan your activities one by one. This tool will save you enormous amounts of time.
► An Online Egg Timer

► Todo.ly – a nice little tool for organizing your To Do lists.
6. Define Your End Result In his wonderful book The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen Covey tells us to begin with the end in mind. Before you begin any project take a few moments to define exactly what you want to achieve. Be specific. Do you want to accomplish a specific conversion rate from your sales page? Perhaps you could write down how many new subscribers you want to add to your mailing list this week and how you will make that happen. Get a clear idea of the goal you are going to accomplish and refer to it often. Print it out and post it on your wall. This will keep you focused and moving in the right direction.
7. Identify Your Time‐Stealers We all have them. For some of us it might be television, for others it might be checking the stats on our fantasy sports team while we need to be blogging. Whatever these time‐stealers are, identify them and start chopping. You’re going to have to make sacrifices for your Internet Marketing Business. Start by reducing the time you spend on frivolous activities. No one is saying you can’t indulge in them, but if you want to watch a television program then watch it instead of channel surfing for three hours. When it is over, move on to something else.

8. Make A Schedule and Stick To It Just because your business is Online Marketing doesn’t mean you should treat it differently than you would if you were operating a brick and mortar business, like a car wash or a restaurant. In those types of businesses you would expect to maintain a certain schedule and show up for work, even if you were the owner. Make a schedule for your Internet Marketing business and stick to it. Block out the time that you will spend working on your business, and during those hours you need to be working. Be honest. If you worked for someone else the way you work on your Internet Marketing business, would you get fired or promoted? Mmmmm.

9. Use Your Smartphone for Something Smart Instead of ripping a rad guitar solo by tapping the screen of your smartphone or play the fart piano, try using a voice recorder app to capture ideas and inspiration throughout the day. The possibilities for using your smartphone in your business are endless. My favorite app of the moment is Square, which turns my smartphone into a credit card terminal. It even comes with a free card reader. Now, when I am selling hosting services or website design or a QR code to an offline client I can accept their payment for my services right away. You can use your smartphone to manage your documents and even edit that ebook you’ve written while you’re standing in line at the DMV or the Post Office. Two applications I personally use to increase my productivity are Things (for smart To‐Do lists) and TouchGoal (for tracking my goals and habits). Here’s an article on iPhone apps for getting organized and staying productive.
10. Solve Important Issues Before They Become Urgent Your printer just ran out of ink. Instead of dropping everything to go and get a new one, get it the next time you’re out shopping. Save the document to a file on your desktop and move on to another project. It will keep right there until you can print it. If it won’t, then you have allowed something which was important to now become urgent. Handle important matters as they arise, not at the last minute. If you had printed that document last week when you still had ink you wouldn’t be scrambling to get it in the mail today. If you had purchased ink when the cartridge was still partially full (important), you would not be pressed to replace it today (urgent). Don’t let your important matters become urgent.

11. Set Your Clock Forward By 15 Minutes This is a sneaky one! Move the time on your watch forward and you will be a little more conscious of the need to remain focused and get your work done in order to wrap things up for the day. You are wrapping things up at some point, aren’t you? We all want to be productive in our endeavors, but always bear in mind that work without the reward of leisure and time spent with your family can become a more like a chore. Stay to task, but set a time when you will call it a day. When you look at the clock and then realize you still have 15 minutes left to tidy up the SEO on your latest blog post, you’ll feel as if you ended the day on a high note.
12. Take Nootropics These days, there are a lot of nutrition supplements out there on the market that help you improve your brain performance, boost your energy levels and do all kinds of miraculous things to your brain, body and metabolism. Here’s a list – for information purposes only:
Ginko biloba
Niacin
Piracetam
Various vitamins
You should check with your health practitioner and do your own research by typing “nootropics”, “smart drugs” or “energy nutrients” into Google for an idea of what I’m talking about. Some of these substances occur naturally in fruit and vegetables, so you don’t have to take any health supplement tabs. Just adjust your diet and you’ll benefit from their nootropic effects.

13. Backup Your Files and Websites Regularly I am passing this advice onto you on a serious note. As an internet entrepreneur, you cannot afford to waste hours upon hours trying to fix things. Your job is also to find ways to prevent the shit from actually hitting the fan, and make sure you won’t run into last‐minute crises. So if things like server downtimes, data loss, malware attacks or phising should ever happen to you, backup will prove to be the smartest decision you’ve taken. Do you see how this is linked to productivity? You have to make it a discipline to back up your files regularly and have working copies of your websites.
► Contact your web host, and arrange with them to activate the backup option. Their servers will make and store automated weekly backups of your websites. For most hosts, this service is free of charge. However, if it costs +$2‐$5/month, it doesn’t count anyway…
A great tool to store your local backups would be Dropbox.
14. Change Places Here’s a tip: take your laptop computer and any other essentials (pen, paper, etc.) and go to a café that has wireless internet (such as Starbucks), or a library, or somewhere nice that inspires you or where you feel comfortable working. Or, even better, travel to another location and work from the beach, from the hotel lobby or from a hotel room. Alternatively, you can…
Have your own cone of silence. Take a laptop with no network or WiFi access, and go to a place where you can work flat out without distractions, such as a library, park, coffee house, or your own backyard. Leave your comm gadgets behind – if you need to narrow your focus.
15. Off‐load Your Burdens Stress, tension, worries and overall mental noise can slow down your productivity and gradually eat your energy away. So why not take care of them and unlock the energy and potential that is being wasted on worries and stress? In other words, you have to metaphorically “empty your Recycle Bin” every once in a while – those things on your mind, unfinished business, unpaid bills, half‐finished tasks or what not…
► Make a list of things and life situations where you feel you are “in the grey zone”. And have an honest look at them. What can be done to resolve and eliminate each of these?
Here’s a range of methods that will do the trick:
► Try meditation. If you are the kind of person who can sit still for 15 minutes a day doing nothing – not even thinking, then this technique is for you. HINT: You already are the kind of person who can do that, regardless of what you may think right now. Meditation has been shown to dramatically reduce stress levels, eliminate mental and psychological “toxins” and promote overall mental health. I would honestly advise you to give it a fair try, even if, like me, you’re not into “all that new age stuff”. There’s nothing New Age in the fact that it has been clinically proven under scientific scrutiny. Try it out!
► Relax and get rid of muscular tension. Okay, if you don’t like to meditate,
then at least do any relaxation routine you feel like doing, every once in a while, to unwind and get rid of stress. Don’t forget to breathe deeply. Our Internet Marketing Mindset Optimizer hypnosis program will help you

achieve just that – as a matter of fact, hypnosis, as an altered state of mind, is extremely efficient for building productivity and self‐discipline rapidly.
► Do the famous 60‐second relaxation technique. This one is another
deceivingly simple `no‐brainer` that has been proven effective for its impact on your mind and body: it reduces anxiety and calms you down, relaxing you a little bit.
o Here’s how to do it: breathe in, while slowly counting to three; hold the air in, while slowly counting to three; breathe out, slowly counting to three. This amounts to about 9 seconds. Do this for three times and it will have a relaxing effect on you in just half a minute.
► Take A Warm Bath. Remember Archimedes? Ain’t it funny how he got the
idea for his theory on liquids and volume? Or Newton, and his Apple…and his theory of gravity? Creative ideas tend to flow out when you stop forcing yourself and let your mind relax. Only then do they bubble up to the surface. This is why you can also try to…
► Take a walk in the woods, or in the park… Take your dog for a walk every
once in a while. Take a long walk, leave your worries aside and take your thoughts with you. New, fresh ideas for that website launch may visit you.
► Get some sleep. Sleeping is a form of nourishment to your body, just like
food, water and air are. This is why you need to get enough sleep to be in good shape, reduce your stress and boost your productivity.
If you suffer from stress, anxiety or have the habit of worrying, these will help you tremendously.
16. Check Against Your Goal Set up some concrete goals for the day, for the week and for the month. When you get distracted, ask yourself whether this activity is getting you closer to your goal or not. If it doesn’t, either put it aside to deal with it later (after you have finished your work), or just forget about it.

Daily Goals are important. Without a clear focus, it’s too easy to succumb to distractions. Set targets for each day in advance. Decide what you’ll do; then do it.
17. Use Flowcharting
You’ll gain astounding clarity in your business if you apply this tip. Here’s the idea: with so many things on their plate at one time, Internet Marketers can increase their productivity by learning to properly use a flowchart. The ability to visualize your business is a key ingredient in the recipe for success, and it provides the measuring stick you need to stay on track. Remember this when it comes to your online business:
“If You Can’t Measure It, You Can’t Manage It.”
TRACK EVERYTHING VISUALLY – website funnels, conversion ratios, profits, traffic – and you’ll have a much clearer overview of your business and how it works. A good flowchart will tell you where you are, where you’re going, and, most importantly, how to get there. So invest some time in learning the art of flowcharting. You’ll thank me later. Here’s an example flowchart for a traffic funnel / website architecture setup for a typical online business. This is how most online marketers collect leads.
Example of a Simple Flowchart
18. Use Mindmapping When brainstorming your new website or that your new product launch, mind‐mapping can help you enormously. Here’s the main idea behind it: let’s say you are writing a report for your customers. If you approach it in a linear manner, you’ll be going: “Chapter 1”, “Chapter 2”, “Chapter 2.2.”, “Chapter 2.2.1.” and so on. What happens is that you practically paralyze one half of your brain when taking that approach. Are you familiar with the whole left‐brain vs. right‐brain hemispheres and their functions? Your right brain is like a spoiled child who wants to play and make little bit of a creative mess. When mindmapping, you utilize both your creativity and your logic at the same time. It pays off to know how to use your whole brain when doing online business. Mindmapping is an amazing technique that will allow you to use both your brain hemispheres at the same time, while planning your business, for example:

19. Outsource it for $5 You’ve probably heard of Fiverr.com by now. But I don’t know if you realize its huge potential for your business right now. Yes, there are a few shady workers here and there, but many of them are legit and deliver quite amazing results, really. Here are a few things you can outsource:
► Repetitive tasks. Like handling Excel files, article submissions, going through subscriber lists, mining data from websites. Assign them to a VA (Virtual Assistant).
► Minor SEO tasks ► Logo Design (decent quality for $5 if you need something quick) ► Wordpress‐related work. People will install Wordpress along with themes
and plugins for just $5. Why even bother if you’re not an expert programmer?
► Proofreading and editing ► Website bug fixes ► Script installations (Aweber, Clicky, Google Analytics tracking, etc.)
The possibilities are endless! If you work with the “stars” who deliver great results on Fiverr, you’ll off‐load A WHOLE LOT of your burdens for a price like $25 or $50. You can literally save tens of hours of your time with just a little bit of money. Plus, you’ll fast‐forward through your projects more rapidly, since multiple people – who have a very narrow specialization – are working for you at the same time – even while you’re sleeping. You’ve literally nothing to lose for $5.
20. Nuke It! The most efficient way to get through a task is to delete it. If it doesn’t need to be done, get it off your to do list. HINT: There are many tasks that do not deserve a place on your to‐do list.

21. Use Brainwave Entrainment Brainwave Entrainment technology (BWE) is a fast way to change your mind’s ‘operation mode’. It is a very effective audio‐based method of stimulating the brain, built on over 75 years of research. Our Internet Marketing Mindset Optimizer package comes with a free bonus consisting in three different brainwave entrainment audios:
Check them out, they are pretty awesome.
22. Optimization
Identify the processes you use most often, and write them down step‐by‐step. Refactor them on paper for greater efficiency. Then implement and test your improved processes. Sometimes we just can’t see what’s right in front of us until we examine it under a microscope.

23. Inspiration Read inspiring books and articles, listen to audio programs, and attend seminars to keep absorbing inspiring new ideas (as well as to refresh yourself on the old ones). Some of those programs can fill you up with positive energy.
24. Ask Yourself These Empowering Questions Whenever you catch yourself doing something that you’re not sure is the right thing to do, ask yourself the following questions:
► Am I focusing on what really matters?
► What could I be doing instead? What would a better use for my time be
right this very moment?
► Can I outsource or delegate this?

► Is this taking me closer to my goal?
► Is this more important than […] ?
These “self‐coaching” questions will guide you and help you stay on top of your online venture at all times.
25. The 5‐Year Test When considering which urgent items to delay in order to carve out time for your personal appointments, use the 5‐year test. Just ask yourself, “What difference will it make 5 years from now if I delay this urgent task?” You’ll often find that most seemingly urgent tasks will make little or no difference at all 5 years hence, even if you were to blow them off completely. Now apply that same 5‐year test to the important tasks you’d do during your scheduled personal appointments. What difference will those make in 5 years? Often the result is significant, and it’s this perspective that will help you say no to the urgent in order to secure time for the important. Those 5 years will pass no matter what you do, so it’s inevitable you’ll find yourself sitting on the back end. When you look back from today to 5 years in the past, do you see that you’ve made massive progress in life? If not, then why not? Did you succumb to the urgent, or did you stay focused on the important? What will you commit to changing over the next 5 years that you didn’t do in the last 5?

two or three words to describe it. When I did this, I chose relaxed, peaceful, and focused. Now picture what kind of work environment would help to create the feelings you’ve selected, even if it doesn’t seem realistic to work in such a place. For example, if you chose to feel peaceful, what’s the most peaceful place you can imagine? Create a mental image of the ideal place for you to work.
27. Keep a Goal Scoreboard Track progress towards, your goals, find a way to measure the progress you’ve made towards where you want to be in your online business. Here’s an example of a graph that I used to keep for goal completion:
28. Trade Money for Time A good idea is to know the value of your hour when it comes to your business. How much is an hour of your time worth? $25? $35 ? $500? Whatever that is, ask yourself: are you spending your time doing $2/hour work? What are the areas of your daily life where you can pay less than your hourly rate in order to save time? Can you do your grocery shopping online, for instance? Can someone install that new autoresponder for you for just $10? Then definitely trade the money for the time.
29. Use The Action Machine This amazing piece of software lets you organize your goals, budget your time, track your progress, assists you with time blocking and has helped me become 10x more productive from the moment I began using it. Check it out here.

30. Screw Perfectionism! If you are a perfectionist and want each little aspect of your product / website to be perfectly polished before you launch it, I have news for you. You’ll have to let go of it at times. Good is often good enough. It is always better to have something good (or even decent) and launch it right now, than to launch a ‘perfect’ product six months later. You can always improve it as you go, and increase its quality in the process of actually making money with it! You can always fix a bad decision later, but you can never fix indecision. Nobody will give you the wasted time back.

31. Reinvest Profits into More Efficiency Ask any experienced entrepreneur – that is the way you grow your business. If you are on top of your game in your online business, you know how your systems work and are in a position to tweak them to produce better results. You can find shortcuts, you can delegate things and work on the overall design of your business to make it run more smoothly. In the business world, this is called process optimization. And it’s often done with the help of a little bit of capital. So when reaping your profits, make sure you reinvest a percentage of the money you make into making your business system even more efficient and profitable. This of course includes tweaking and optimizing websites for better conversion rates and your ad campaigns for better ROI.
32. Keep Things Simple! Simplify as much as you can in your daily routines and in your workflow. Don’t add too many bells & whistles and stick to what is truly essential. Nail the core aspects of your business rather than wasting time on things that don’t add that much value to your life.
33. Use E‐mail Filtering to Keep the Unimportant Away From Your Inbox

E‐mail services now offer a variety of solutions for organizing your e‐mail messages. If you’re subscribed to a newsletter and enjoy reading it from time to time – but it’s not essential to your business – then direct it to another folder. Use e‐mail tags, labels and filters to put each thing in its right box.
33. Go To A Stationery Store Go to a large retailer that sells stationery and office tools (such as Staples) and carefully look through what they have to offer. What are some of the things that will improve your efficiency? They have something for every taste. Filing systems, cabinets, colored paper, desk supplies, notepads, folders, binders, labels, stickers…and everything in between. Make a smart purchase and buy a combination of tools that suits you / your project management style. Make your home office more productive by using the coolest tools. I’ll guarantee you’ll find something to help you become more productive.
BONUS TIP: 34. Adopt a Time Management System David Allen’s Getting Things Done (GTD) is probably best known among productivity enthusiasts and high achievers. His approach is quite technical and a bit over‐structured – but once you get the hang of it, it can drive your productivity sky‐high. Watch this quick Youtube video for a rough idea of how this whole system works.

BONUS TIP: 35. Eat That Frog! Brian Tracy is probably responsible for popularizing this notion. One of his best time management courses is focused around this idea: do your 20% most essential tasks first thing in the morning, when you have the highest levels of energy, vitality and clear‐headedness – and hence are more efficient. If you apply this, it will propel you forward like nothing will. Just figure out the essential 20% of your to‐do list that will make the greatest impact and do that first thing in the morning each day, every day for 30 days. You’ll be amazed at the results.

BONUS TIP: 36. Take It Easy! Know When To Call It A Day… Being overly motivated is as bad as being under‐motivated. Psychologists have actually discovered that there is a “sweet spot” in your motivation level that will keep you happy, stress‐free and productive. Anything below OR above that can sabotage your efforts. They even have a name for this: it’s called the motivational optimum. So if you got over‐motivated by reading the advice in this report and decided to apply many of the ideas one after another, then STOP right now and think about it. A resolution that has almost zero chances to get done sounds like this: “Starting tomorrow, I am going to stop smoking, start going to the gym daily, eat healthier food, change my work hours, launch my new website and work on two other projects”. STOP before you begin doing this – because you are very unlikely to succeed. Tweak your life in small increments to take full advantage of the effect of compound interest (also called “the stacking effect”), whereby small improvements bring a logarithmic growth in your results. Small improvements brought one by one into your life can be more effective than a ton of improvements you never get to actually implement. Self‐discipline is like a muscle. It grows gradually, over time, with effort and practice. If you go to the gym, you don’t start with the heaviest weights first – right? So conquer your bad habits one by one, and focus your energy until you succeed and move on to the next chapter. Also, there are good days and bad days. There are days when your productivity just isn’t going to be stellar – and perhaps, what you actually need is a rest. Towards the end of the day, physiological changes begin to take effect into our body. We cannot concentrate as clearly, and we begin to grow somewhat tired. You may be tempted to switch into “Superhero” mode, pull an all‐nighter and think you’re going to nail all your tasks – but what you’re doing is not going to

produce long term quality results. As a matter of fact, workaholism doesn’t make you a hero, while true efficiency does.
BONUS TIP: 37. Planning Does the Most It is said that one minute of proper planning saves you up to five minutes of execution time. When running a business, this is even truer! An entrepreneur should spend time drafting plans and blueprints, while driving the system. Your To‐Do list is your most basic – yet most important form of planning – so start with that. Learn a few planning strategies (Google is your friend) and take advantage of this shortcut.
