In this week’s lesson the students will learn about the 3 rd person of the Trinity God, the Holy Spirit through whom God acts, reveals His will, empowers individuals, and reveals His personal presence. The Spirit of God is a Person, not some force like gravity or some ghost that looks and moves like smoke. Like God the Father, He is Spirit and does not have a human body like God the Son, Jesus. Here are qualities of the Person of the Holy Spirit: 1. He speaks (read Hebrews 3:7) 2. He reasons (read Acts 15:28) 3. He thinks and understands (read 1 Corinthians 2:10–11) 4. He does the will of God the Father (read 1 Corinthians 12:11) 5. He feels (read Ephesians 4:30) 6. He is a friend and gives us companionship (read 2 Corinthians 13:14) The Bible specifically shows that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are distinct (separate) Persons. Remember this since the Father sent the Son into the world (John 3:16), He cannot be the same person as the Son. Likewise, after the Son returned to the Father (John 16:10), the Father and the Son sent the Holy Spirit into the world (John 14:26; Acts 2:33). Therefore, the Holy Spirit is distinct from the Father and the Son. April, Lesson #3

Today’s Lesson Overview:

April’s Topic is “The Trinity” In last week’s lesson we taught on the 2nd person of the Trinity – God the Son, our Savior who is fully God and fully human. In this week’s lesson the students will learn about the 3rd person of the Trinity – God, the Holy Spirit through whom God acts, reveals His will, empowers individuals, and reveals His personal presence.

He is a friend and gives us companionship (read 2 Corinthians 13:14)

The Bible specifically shows that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are distinct (separate) Persons.

The Spirit of God is a Person, not some force like gravity or a ghost that looks and moves like smoke. He is a friend and gives us companionship (read 2 Corinthians

13:14) The Bible specifically shows that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are distinct (separate) Persons. To conclude the doctrine of the Trinity (3 persons in 1): The fact that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are distinct Persons means that the Father is not the Son, the Son is not the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit is not the Father. Jesus is God, but He is not the Father or the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God, but He is not the Son or the Father. They are different Persons, not three different ways of looking at God or three separate gods. God is One!

1 John 5:7-8 (KJV)

7 For there are three that testify in heaven, the Father,

the Word (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit: and

these three are ONE.”

There is a strong correlation between a child’s faith and their parents’ devotion to the Word. It’s amazing the difference a parent’s example makes in a child’s life. The battle starts with you as a parent — God is calling you, right now, to get into the Word. Even if you are active in attending church and occasionally read the Bible, it’s vital that you are an engaged reader, a student of the Word. Sometimes people settle for what they think the Bible says, but it’s vital for every parent — for every family — to know what the Bible actually says.

According to a George Barna Group survey

Most parents believe that enabling their children to attend church on a regular basis, and to feel generally positive about their religious experience,

is as high as they can set the bar for the spiritual health of their children. Anything achieved beyond that level is seen as a bonus.

April, Lesson #3

We have begun practice for the Mother’s day presentation. If your child is participating, please see Iris Baez for practice dates and times.

Mother’s Day Presentation is Sunday, May 8, 2016

Our Motto “We are here to equip you, not replace you.”

Our Mission We are here to support the parents in “Training up the child in the way he should go: so when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6) We are here to equip you, not replace you. Our desire is that every parent would be encouraged and ready to rise up to the call in teaching their children to love God with all of their heart, mind, and soul through total obedience to Him.

Our Vision

To come alongside the parents to equip them to be the primary leaders in the spiritual development of their children.

Ministry Leadership Sylvia Smith – Elder/Ministry Director Iris Baez – Team Leader (ages 5-7) Wanda Ramos – Team Leader (ages 8-10) Jackie Materon – Team Leader (ages 11 & 12)
