2. Encourage more participation in class and with classmates

• Give targets to students before the lesson – They must raise their hand at least three times in a lesson. Tracked using TSR and individuals are rewarded with merits• Peer marking – Improve confidence and understanding amongst classmates (Classics)Examples of peer marking.pdf• Role plays – Encourages spoken English, improves confidence and participation amongst all students. • Try not to set homework at the end of the lesson

• Avoid direct questions like “Do you understand it?” Make lots of context checks at different points in the lesson.

• Vary the colours of your text for ease of reading!
