When you read In the beginning, what is the frstthing you think
o? Genesis 1:1, o course. John is telling us that God was there at
the
beginning o the world, and Jesus is the Creator. Johns Gospel is
going to show all theGod-like parts o Jesus. John uses the terms
word, lie, and light to reveal that Jesusis God. This extends to
Jesus ability to pass God-hood on to those who receive Him (v.12).
They can get the power (right) to become sons o God. Do you fnd
that amazing?Are you a child of God? If you are not sure, talk to a
leader or friend who can showyou how. Either way, take a minute to
think about what really being a child of Godcan mean.
Do you ever wish you could just start over? You can as we start
this new gospel.
Well get a new perspective on Who Jesus is and how He changed
those aroundHim. This week we will learn about how He is God. We
can start resh by askingWho is this Jesus? At least our titles are

Do you ever eel like youre really close to
understandingsomething, but its just a little too ar or you to
grasp? How do you eel when it fnallyclicks and you understand it
completely? Its great, isnt it? Thats whats happening here.
The ullness o verse 16 is talking about all o the pieces fnally
coming together. Aterhundreds o years o people trusting God and
ollowing the little bits they knew aboutwhat He was saying,
everything was ready to click. God was here! Full understandingand
ull salvationwas coming to human lie.Christ is closing all the gaps
between humans and God, even the parts we stillhave trouble
understanding. What is something about God that you would like
toknow more about? What part of grace do you need to understand
more? Who canyou ask for help with this today?
Have you ever been overlooked? Being ignored, letout, or
rejected is a terrible eeling. Thats what Jesus was acing. These
people just didntunderstand what God was doing. Rejection is part o
the way the world is with sin in it.
We even see it in our liveswell never be rejected the way Jesus
was, but people canstill be mean. Relationships will continue to be
broken until Christs love rules this earth.When we genuinely care
about someone and they ignore or reject us, we can start
tounderstand what Christ was doing. He took on the hurt so He could
heal the world andrestore relationships between Him, us, and
others.Rejection can either be a way for us to feel worse about
life, or it can be a path tobetter understanding Christ and what He
is doing in the world. How can you takeon someones hurt today? How
can you show them to Christ?
