SERVICE LEARNING HOURS

• Service Learning hours are a Graduation Requirement!

• Most students have earned their 75 hours before getting to high school if they have been in the Calvert County Public School System since elementary school-it’s embedded in the curriculum

• On report cards, it tells you how many hours are needed to fulfill the requirement if not already done so!

• If you need to know whether you owe service learning hours or not, you can see me after the program-I have a master list!

• PLEASE don’t wait until your SENIOR YEAR to work on these hours! Get them done NOW and it will be one less thing to worry about because your senior year is very busy getting you ready for college/work force/military/trade schools, etc..

TESTING REQUIREMENTS TO GRADUATE:

• Math: Must PASS PARCC Algebra 1 exam (725 or higher)

• If you took Alg 1 in middle school or transferred in without a high school PARCC math score, must sit for Algebra 2 PARCC

• If PARCC 1 requirement is not met before 11th grade, student must then take Intermediate Algebra

• English: Must pass PARCC English 10 to graduate (725 or higher)

• Social Studies: Must pass HSA American Government (11th for us, 10th for future)

• Science: Must meet MISA requirements: Students will test after they’ve been exposed to Earth, Physical, and Life sciences (normally 10th or 11th grade)

ATHLETIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

• A student must maintain a 70 percent grade point average, with no more than one failing grade of less than a 60 percent. If a student receives a failing grade of less than 60 percent in a 2 or 3 credit course, the student is ineligible.

• Final grades will determine fall eligibility. Quarterly grades will determine winter and spring eligibility.

• Eligibility period is from the date a report card is issued to the date the next report card is issued.

• An athlete’s eligibility can be restored at interims!

• Physical Examinations are good for 14 months from the date of exam!

• Athletes are now required to submit all participation forms online. Students must have completed forms to Tryout. Please visit Northerns’ Website for more information on the Athletics Tab.
