• Parents are very nervous about how their child will do SOCIALLY– Will they cry?– Will they get along with the
other children?– What if they don’t like
school?– What if they don’t like the
teacher?

the same pace?– Will they start out behind?– What if they can’t learn?– What if they lag behind?

Explain What Will Happen
• Talk to the parents about how the transition will occur
• Answer any questions• Arrange for a tour of the
facility • Allow the students to
accompany the parents on the tour
Make a Home Visit
• Observe the interactions in the home
• See the educational activities available in the home
• Evaluate the learning environment in the home, books, games, letters, etc
• Answer questions
