Monte Toboggan

• The Monte Toboggan is only found in the country of Madeira.

What is it used for?

It transports people from the top of a steep hill in Monte to the bottom of the hill.

It is like going on a fairground ride and lots of visitors use it.

What is it made of?The toboggan’s are made of wicker wood which is light and

strong. They have a seat for the people to sit on.

They have two wooden runners instead of wheels.

What form of energy does it use?

The Toboggan is pulled by two men (using muscular energy)

As it gets faster going down the hill, the men stand behind it and steer (Kinetic/moving energy)

The toboggan can travel at 48 kmph.
