FIRE POSTER WINNERS: When we acknowledged fire prevention week
last month, our Kindergarten through 3rd grade students drew posters about
fire prevention. These posters were displayed at the Firemen's breakfast, and
then the firemen chose winners. We are excited to announce that our SCS
fire poster winners are:
Kindergarten: Kinley K.
1st Grade: Brynley Y.
2nd Grade: Aaron P.
3rd Grade: Seth A.
All of our students worked hard on their posters and had a great time
participating in this community and safety event!
News from Spanish...The kindergartners are learning about things in the
classroom and love to sing the song about the things in their classroom. The first
and second graders just learned how to pray the Glory Be in Spanish and also
finished up a thankfulness book just in time for Thanksgiving. It is exciting to
see them read and translate their books! The third and fourth graders are learning
lots of fruits in Spanish, bringing the foods they know to over 20! In sixth grade,
we learned the Hail Mary in Spanish and just completed a poster (in Spanish)
about the things that we are thankful for as we prepare for Thanksgiving. News from the band room…In band we are preparing for the Christmas program
by learning how to play lots of Christmas songs. It is a very fun time and we are
definitely enjoying the music! News from 3
rd-6
th Grade music…In music we have been learning how to play the
recorder, and are even learning how to play a song with melody and harmony in
it for the upcoming Christmas program. It is very exciting and the students are
doing so well. We are also learning how to play the tone chimes (kind of like
handbells). We will be playing a song using them for the Christmas program and
that is also very exciting. We are also working on the speaking parts and songs
for the program…it is a very fun time filled with joyful noises! ~ Aimee

The Knights of Columbus would like to thank all the
people who attended the Red, White and Blue Mass. We would also like to thank
the 4th Degree for the Honor Guard and a special thanks to the St. Casimir’s

From the Heart by Fr. Jason Kern One of my favorite titles for Jesus is Christ the King. Next weekend the Church
celebrates the feast of Christ the King as the Last Sunday in Ordinary Time. There is
something about this feast that attracts me: I desire to let Jesus Christ be the King of my
life. Saint Ignatius of Loyola often used imagery like this as he would call Jesus the
Eternal King. Yet while St. Ignatius was a soldier in his own personal background, he
would speak of living in whatever manner would most glorify God. Every choice he
made would be done because he felt that it would most fully give glory and honor to God
and thus save his soul. Ignatius wasn’t attracted to the image of Jesus’ kingship because it
was about power and dominion, but he recognized in Jesus the humility and poverty that
leads to perfection. This attracted Ignatius and provoked him to surrender his entire life to
Jesus and Mary.
St. Ignatius has a beautiful meditation that is called to the Two Standards. This refers to
the banners that would be carried into battle by opposing troops to identify the location
the battalion would hover near while fighting. It identified who you were fighting for and
kept before you the place where you would find your troops fighting with you. Ignatius
invites us to meditate on a battle over the entire world between Jesus and Satan. He
encourages you to meditate on what Satan’s battlefield would look like and how Satan
would sit himself upon his throne with power and riches and honors. Ignatius then points
us to Jesus and how He would be in the midst of his battlefield in humility and poverty.
Ignatius leads us to a choice and we must make a choice in the meditation. We cannot
stand on the sidelines. Which leader will you fight for? Satan and his war for souls which
lead to the emptiness of this life? Or Jesus and his gift of joy and peace that fills our lives
as we live in the midst of this world. The choice is easy but yet we must recognize the
attractions and ways that we fall victim into Satan’s battalion. Fight for Christ in this life.
Make Jesus your Lord in a renewed way this week over every time and place. Invite Him
to be the Lord of your family. Invite Him to be the Lord of your workplace.
As we approach December and all the holiday parties and activities, don’t get swept up in
the superficial. Jesus Christ is coming in the flesh. Celebrate the truth of this reality: your
human nature is united to the divine nature because Jesus took on human flesh. Prepare
for this truth by adding prayer time. When we are busy we need to pray more and not
less. Pray to Jesus to be always ready to welcome Him deeper into your heart. Let your
affections be stirred at the incredible gift of God offering Himself to you and you
receiving the incredible gift of love in the Person of Jesus. Come Lord Jesus, Come!
We pray for the repose of the soul Lil Jensen who passed on
to eternal life on Nov. 19th. Eternal rest grant unto her, Oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. We also pray
for the family at this difficult time. May God’s peace be with them.
