MANTOUX Test-

0.1 ml of PPD is injected intradermally

into flexor aspect of forearm.

METHOD

• multiple puncture apparatus

• A drop of undiluted PPD is spread on the

area of skin

• The apparatus is pressed against this

area of skin.

RESULT

In MANTOUX test the site of injection is

examined after 48-72 hrs

Positive test-

local oedema- 10 mm diameter

confirms past infection

helpful in children under 5 years

indicate active infection

becomes positive 4-6 weeks after

infection or BCG vaccination.
