Reader: Wa’Kenya Grade: 7thReading Level:

DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY: I began the tutoring session with having Wa’Kenya read the book “Denali National Park & Preserve”. She was a very good and through reader. She read the entire book with no needed assistance. Afterwards, we proceeded with a game of tic tac toe using the vocabulary words that were in the book. We also did a story response activity as the final activity. REFLECTION: I was very impressed with how she read with fluency. She understood the vocabulary from the book and exhibited that in the game of tic tac toe. I felt a sense of accomplishment after we finished reading the whole book and she was able to state to me what she had learned.

Reader: KendreanGrade: 2ndReading Level:

DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY: I began the tutoring session with a picture walk and identification of troubling vocabulary. Kendrean seemed to be very interested while reading. We first started off by reading a warm up book that was entitled “They Help Animals”. Then after that we read “Cat Can Jump.” He read pretty fluently with a little hindarence. He finished the book with my guidance and we played the “slap game” afterwards. REFLECTION: I believe this tutoring session went very smooth. He tried his best to stop after errors, he reread to correct hisself, appealed to me for help, he also self – corrected most of his own errors by pushing the sound of the word out. I really enjoyed this seession.

Reader: Ze’ Kiyah Grade: Reading Level:

DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY: I started this session off by selecting a book corresponding to her reading level. I took her through a picture walk and we then identified vocabulary. We read the few pages of the book and then she had to leave because her mother had come to pick her up. But, the few pages that we read showed that she was a pretty proficient reader. REFLECTION: Since this session was cut shorter than normal I was only to notice that she was a decent reader and sounded out words that she was unsure of. I feel like the session was definitely worth it though.

Reader: Kameron JackGrade:Reading Level:

DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY: The book Kameron read during this tutoring session was “Help For Santa”. I mentioned the title of the book to her and took her through a picture walk and I also helped her to identify tricky vocabulary. After she finished reading the book, we played a game of tic tac toe, which she won. Today the sentence that I had her to write from the story was “Little Elf danced with the doll”. I praised her for doing such a great job during the session. REFLECTION: II felt a sense of accomplishment on the fact that Kameron was able to write a complete sentence on her own without any accomadation. The session went very smoothly and I could tell that Kameron was very proud of herself and so was I.
