The fluid technology specialist
Bürkert has launched the
successor to its type 8021 pulse
divider, as well as for the type
8023 flow transmitter. With
microcontroller-driven electronics,
the new type 8022 combines
both functions in a single device.
The type 8022 flow transmitter
and pulse divider is an electronic
module which can display and
further process the flow measured
by sensors of types 8020, 8030 or
8070. The device can be mounted
directly on top of the sensor,
where it converts the pulses from
the sensor into standard signals
for further processing, for example
by a control system. Additional
expense for cabling and for
documentation of the connec-
tion between the sensor and the
transmitter becomes unneces-
sary. Depending on the model,
the flow transmitter/pulse divider
is equipped with a removable
control unit with display. This
shows the measured flow on a
selectable unit on the device and
allows parameter settings
With the new type 8022, Bürkert
is offering in a single device
the choice between a current
or pulse output directly at the
flow sensor. The type of electrical
connection can be either via cable
gland or an M12 connection.
Additional flexibility is provided
by the optional display/operating
module, which can be used for
configuration and flow display.

HVAC power saver series
Pump forum call for papers
The Wilo-Stratos GIGA launched
by Wilo SE is the first pump
from their new high-efficiency
series for the upper performance
range in heating, cold-water and
cooling applications.
The company claims that
approximately 8,000 kg CO2
per year, as well as €85,000
electricity costs per pump
can be saved over 15 years
compared to conventional
uncontrolled pumps (based on
the load profile ‘Blauer Engel’).
Wilo claims that the series is a
completely new development.
Glanded pumps are driven
by power-saving EC motors
for the first time. The pumps’
hydraulics is optimally adjusted
to the motor technology.
According to the specifications
of the manufacturer, the pumps
reach a particularly high total
efficiency based on a motor
efficiency of up to 94% at a
nominal motor power of 4.5 kW.
The motor’s energy efficiency
is based on a new high-
efficiency drive concept, the
High Efficiency Drive (HED) from
Wilo and according to IEC TS
60034-31 Ed.1can out-perform
the limit of the upcoming
efficiency class IE4.

The VDMA Pumps + Systems
Association next Pump Users
International Forum will take
place from 27 - 28 September
2012 in the Congress Centre of
Düsseldorf, Germany. Interested
parties from the pump applica-
tion, pump manufacturing, engi-
neering and science fields are
requested to submit proposals for
technical papers. The closing date
is 10 December 2011.
