As such there Is no end to the temples in udaipur but some popularly visit temples
are presented here…..Enjoy the tour…!!!!

An island palace in LakePichola, which was constructed by Maharana Karan Singh as a hideout for Prince Khurram the estranged son of Emperor Jehangir the implacable foe of the Maharana.
It is also said that Shah Jahan [prince Khurram] derived some of these ideas for the Taj Mahal from this palace when he stayed here in 1623-24.
Some striking carving including a row of elephants that looks as though they are guarding the whole place. The exquisitely carved chhatri in grey and blue stone is another example.

There is a brass image of Garuda the
Lord bird carrier.
The exterior and the plinth are covered with base relief
of alligators; elephants, horsemen and celestial musicians rise in tiers.
Chanting, bells and music can be. It is the largestheard
throughout the day and most splendid temple of
Udaipur.
Eklingji
Kailashpuri, the modern name for the town of Eklingji,22km north of
Udaipur is famous for its 108temples enclosed by a
high, fortified wall chiselled out of sandstone
and marble.
One of the prominent deity of the Maharanas of Mewar, worshiped
as Mahadeva Chaumukhi,the quadriform divinity, represented by a bust with four faces., it has an ornate Man dap [ A pillared
hall ] and the huge pyramidal roof composed of hundreds of knots
very vividly carved and finely decorated with the coloured
stones.
Before the entrance in the main temple
there is a beautifully sculpted huge Nandi [ the sacred brazen bull who is the loyal steed of Lord Shiva
and has his altar attached to all his
shrines.
Shreenath ji (Nathdwara)
Nathdwara lies 48 kms from Udaipur and literally means the gateway to the Lord. This great
Vaishnavite shrine was built in the 17th century on spot exactly defined by the Lord himself. The
legends have it that the image of the Lord Krishna was being transferred to safer place from
Vrindaban to protect it from the destructive wrath of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The image when it reached the spot it vehicle the bullock
carts wheel sank axel deep in mud and refused to move further. The accompanying priest realised
that this was lord's chose spot and the image did not want to travel any further. Accordingly a
Temple was built here.

City Palace
The Bari Mahal is a central
garden with view of the city.
Zenana Mahal or the ladies
chamber, leads to Lakshmi
Chowk a beautiful white
pavilion.
. The Surya Chopar or the
sun square depicts a huge
ornamental sun symbolising the sun dynasty to
which the Mewar dynasty
belongs.
.Moti Mahal or the pearl palace
has beautiful mirror work and the Chini Mahal has ornamental
tiles all over
Here, Manak Mahal or the
Ruby Palace has a lovely
collection of glass and mirror
work while Krishna Vilas display a rich collection of
miniature paintings
City Palace towers over the
Pichola Lake . The entry to the Palace is from
the Hati Pol, the Elephant gate. It’s museum is
entered through the Ganesh Deor
Bagore-Ki-HaveliThis is a very congenial old building built right on the waterfront of
Lake Pichola at Gangori Ghat.
The palace has over 100rooms and some
very interesting display of costumes
and modern art.
The glass and mirror in the interiors of the Haveli delicate work and also
preserves a fine example of Mewar Painting on the walls of Queen's Chamber.
Badwa (PM of mewar) made this building
which after his death became the property of
Mewar State
The haveli now stages delightful evening's
entertainment; pleasurable Rajasthani
traditional dance &music in the moody surroundings
It is an ideal place for an evening
entertainment while enjoying the view of
Lake Pichola.
Maharana Pratap Memorial
There are the ruins of one of the first modest palaces of Udaipur and
there is also a charming Japanese rock garden not far away.The memorial has the first Light &
Sound program in Rajasthan, that presents the history of Mewar.
Local people climb the hill to pay homage to Maharana Pratap and his faithful charger 'Chetak', who was killed in the battle of
Haldighati.

The Lake Palace
The Lake Palace is located on the Jag Niwas Island
he Lake Palace arising out of the Turquoise Waters of the Pichola like an elegant fantasy in white marble ,was built in
the 17th century on a natural foundation of 4 acers of rock. It was initially called Jaginwas after its founder Maharana Jagjit
Singh.
Bada Mahal, Kush Mahal, Ajjan Niwas, Phool Mahal Jai Mahal and Dhola Mahal. All enhance the
romance of the elegant setting.
ShilpgramSituated 3 kms west of Udaipur near the Havala village is the
Centre's Shilpgram - the Rural Arts and Crafts Complex. Spread over an undulating terrain of 130 bighas (70 Acres) of land and
surrounded by the Aravallies, the Rural Arts and Crafts Complex is conceived as a living enthnographic museum to depict the
lifestyles of the folk and tribal people of the West Zone.
Within this complex, huts of the member states are constructed incorporating traditional architectural features of
different geographical and ethnic groups residing within the West Zone of India
comprising of five Federal States.
objectives of Shilpgram is in the sphere of increasing awareness and knowledge of rural life and crafts,
specifically, for the younger generation. Special emphasis is laid on workshops for children on arts, crafts, theatre and
music.

Traditional danceOne of the most prminent factor ,that attracts the people to udaipur is the liveliness of dance..True sense of tradition is still alive in udaipur through its dance..Dancind with “Charu” and putting fire inside it then balancing it on the head shows the old Bhil Tribe tradition that used to be in udaipur (mewar).Even with the “thali” the women dance.., either placing it on the palm or placing under the feets and dancing on the edge of it…This gives a pleasant view of dance of mewar ,which is eternal.…!!
Karni mata mandir
Karni Mata was a female Hindu sage born in the Charan caste and is worshiped as the incarnation
of the goddess Durga by her followers
Out of all of the thousands of rats in the temple, there are said to be four or five white rats, which are considered to be
especially holy. They are believed to be the manifestations of Karni Mata herself and her four sons. Sighting them is a special blessing and visitors put in extensive efforts to bring
them forth, offering prasad, a sweet holy food.

Said to be the pride of the City of Lakes of Udaipur, it is an artificial lake constructed by Maharana in north of Lake Pichola in 1678
and to the north-west of Udaipur.
there are three small islands.; the largest of these is the island called the Nehru Park (4 km2 area), which is a popular garden with a
restaurant and a zoo, the second island (0.06 km2 area) houses a public park with an
impressive water-jet fountain and the third island (1.2 km2 area) is the address for the
Udaipur Solar Observatory
