Welcome to the 6th season of Udderbelly Festival at Southbank Centre and what promises to be our biggest and best programme of shows to date. If you haven’t been to our festival before, it’s very simple - we take a big upside down purple cow, fill it with over 200 performances of everything from comedy to kids shows and let it graze on the banks of the Thames for 12 weeks from the beginning of April. Nearly all of our tickets are between £10 and £20. Our two headline shows, Smashed and A Simple Space, are thrilling circus acts for all ages and were massive hits of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe last year. Couple this with the largest programme of live comedy in London and loads of shows for children and we’re pretty sure we’ve got something for everybody.

None of this would be possible without the ongoing support of Southbank Centre and we’re enormously proud to be part of their 2014 programme of events. Thank you to everyone that has supported the festival over the last 5 years. Come down and we look forward to showing you what all of the fuss is about this year. Everybody needs an upside down purple cow in their lives…

Ed Bartlam and Charlie WoodHead Farmers

This summer, Southbank Centre is presenting Festival of Love – an exploration of the many different facets of human love - from romantic love, to the harmony (or disharmony) between nations and love of a parent for a child. One of the highlights is Proud To Be Wed – a weekend of weddings for gay and straight couples celebrating the momentous legalisation of same sex marriage in the UK this year. We’re also in love with the idea that Udderbelly Festival is returning for its sixth year. A purple upside-down cow at Southbank Centre has become the signal that summer’s returned to London. Every year the programme has a whole host of exciting new ideas and the wealth of talent on show make this year no exception. We’re delighted that young people training to be the festival programmers of the future all summer at Southbank Centre will also be working with Udderbelly’s team of producers and artists. There’s no need to go to any other green field festival in my opinion – our pasture has all the excitement necessary.

Jude Kelly, OBESouthbank Centre Artistic Director

THE pASTurE

Udderbelly Festival is about socialising and relaxing with friends and family just as much as it is about seeing shows. Our bar and food garden is a great place to laze and graze this summer. You don’t need a ticket to a show to get in and you’ll be treated to a full bar menu, organic street food and a true festival atmosphere in the very heart of London.

Presented by Underbelly Productions, Strut & Fret Production House and Southbank Centre
