The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening
medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
Founded in 1980, when a group of caring volunteers helped a young boy fulfill his
dream of becoming a police officer, the Foundation is now the largest wish-
granting charity in the world, with 64 chapters in the United States and its
territories. With the help of generous donors and nearly 25,000 volunteers, the
Make-A-Wish Foundation grants a wish every 40 minutes and has granted more
than 200,000 wishes in the U.S. since inception.
Established in 1983, the Greater Los Angeles chapter of the Make-A-Wish
Foundation is celebrating 28 years of fulfilling wishes for more than 7,400
children throughout Los Angeles County. Our goal is to make every eligible
child’s wish come true.
Let us introduce you to Daniel, age 3, one of our “wish children” from Lancaster,

The Power of the Make-A-Wish Foundation Brand
Overview
A recent wish impact study from the Make-A-Wish Foundation of
America defined the effects of wishes and for the first time, provided
qualitative measures surrounding the impact of a wish.
The results show that the wish experience is viewed by wish kids,
parents and wish-granting volunteers as a vital part of their battle
against life-threatening medical conditions and as a powerful force for
creating stronger communities. The study results show three major
areas the wish process clearly improves:
Health Status
• 81% of parents observed an increased willingness by their
wish kids to comply with treatment protocols
State of Mind
• 97% of parents felt the wish experience gave them the
opportunity to be a “normal” family again
Strengthened Communities
• 92% of volunteers felt an increased desire to give back and
help someone else’s family
The Power of a Wish
This year, the Foundation will grant 375 wishes for children living in our very own community.
At an average wish cost of $7,500 per wish, it’s as momentous a challenge that our local Chapter
has ever had to face. We must do all that we can so that no eligible child is ever denied a wish due
to lack of funds. Our annual fundraising programs and events provide us with a wonderful
platform to raise the vital funds that are necessary to grant the wishes of children, like Asher, that
are suffering from life-threatening medical conditions.

Launching in November, Season of Wishes® (SOW) is the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s all-important eight-week
holiday campaign that publically shares the powerful impact of fulfilling a child’s wish with the people of Greater Los
Angeles. This year, a spectacular event – “Uncork a Wish” Wine Tasting and Auction – will be held at the height of our
campaign to benefit our wish children.
This December 2nd holiday extravaganza, a major fundraiser for the local Make-A-Wish chapter, is designed to raise
much-needed funds to grant over 375 wishes this year for very special children, between the ages of 2.5 and 18 years
old, who are fighting life-threatening conditions. And, it's going to be an event unlike any other! Over 300 guests will
enjoy a unique whimsical journey of gastronomic delights and wine tastings, wish making fun, unique live and silent
auctions, and some very special surprises.
Proceeds from “Uncork a Wish” will support hundreds of heartfelt wishes which fall into one of four categories: I Wish
To Go…I Wish To Meet…I Wish To Have…or I Wish To Be. At an average wish cost of $7,500, it’s as momentous a
