Navigating to and Understanding

The Transfer Credit Report The purpose of this document is to provide guidelines for

understanding how to navigate to the transfer credit report for a student with transfer credit and to understand the transfer credit report.

Navigating to the Transfer Credit Report for Students Please have the student’s ID number available or perform a Search/Match to locate the person ID. Step 1 From the main PeopleSoft menu, click the Campus Community link on the left hand navigation bar.

Step 2 Click the Student Services Ctr (Student) link.

Step 3 Confirm that the person ID has been carried to the ID field. If you do not have the ID number you may search using the Last Name, First Name field. Both fields have to be populated for the search to work.

Step 4 Once on the Student’s Student Center page go to the drop down menu in Academics and click on Transfer Credit Report. Next click the >> arrow next to the drop down box.

Understanding the Transfer Credit Report The transfer credit report shows all credits that a student receives externally from other institutions, tests, and life or work experience credit. The Transfer Credit Report is broken down into 3 sections: Course Credits, Test Credit, and Other Credit. Course Credits

The course credits section shows all courses that have been transferred from all external institutions and how those credits transferred to UNLV. It also shows whether this test score, once evaluated and articulated to a course, can be used toward General Education if it is not a one to one match but a generic elective course number. To see applicability to a degree program, you will have to run an Academic Advisement report once the student has matriculated.

Program The College a Student is admitted to. Credit Source Type External means the credit did not come

from UNLV Source Institution The Institution where the credit was

transferred from. External Term The semester the student took the course:

Fall, Spring, Summer Term Year The year the student took the course

Course Title The title of the course taken Incoming Course The course prefix and number at the

external institution Units Taken The number of credits the course was taken

for at the external institutions Grade Input The grade the student received at the

external institution. Equivalent Course What the course is equated to at UNLV

Units How many credits the student got for the course at UNLV

Grade The grade the student received for the course at UNLV

Req Desig The General Education Value assigned to the course (if any) if the course was a generic elective course number here at UNLV but still could be used toward General Education.

Test Credits The test credits section shows all test scores, except SAT and ACT, that a student

has taken and if they were given credit or not for the test score and what course that test score equates to here at UNLV. It also shows whether this test score, once evaluated and articulated to a course, can be used toward General Education if it is not a one to one match but a generic elective course number. To see applicability to a degree program, you will have to run an Academic Advisement report once the student has matriculated.

Other Credit Other credit is all other credit that a student would get for life experience, work

experience, or any other credit given that is not from a test or accredited institution and how that other credit is applied to courses here at UNLV. Most other Credit is used for elective but to see applicability to a degree program, you will have to run an Academic Advisement report once the student has matriculated.
