• Colored labels

• Better organize your email with new colored labels. Just click the color swatch next to each label to assign a color


View as slideshow

• Now you can open PowerPoint attachments as slideshows, without having to download anything. Just click "View as slideshow" next to the .ppt attachment you want to preview. Since you can open .doc and .xls attachments with Google Docs and Spreadsheets too.


Attachment limit-- 20 MB!• Now you can start sharing more of those

home videos, large presentations and files you just can't seem to get smaller. We have doubled the allowable attachment size to 20 MB to make your Gmail space even more useful


Mail from other accounts• Now Gmail can check for the mail you receive at your

other email accounts. You can retrieve your mail (new and old) from up to five other email accounts and have them all in Gmail. Then you can even create a customized 'From:' address, which lets you send messages from Gmail, but have them look like they were sent from another one of your email accounts. Please note that you can only retrieve mail from accounts that have POP3 access enabled


Embarrassment-reducing new message notifications•

Ever replied to a message only to find out that someone sent a better, smarter reply right before you? Now, if someone sends a reply while you're in the middle of reading a conversation (or replying to it), you'll get a notification that a new message has arrived. Click "update conversation" to see what you’ve missed.


Forward all• When viewing a conversation, use the

new “Forward all” link on the right if you want to forward the entire conversation instead of just one message.


Gmail on your mobile• Gmail on your phone with just a click or

two. You'll also like it because: It has the same Gmail interface you know and love Your account stays synchronized whether you access it from your computer or the phone You can easily view attachments such as photos, documents and .pdf files


A picture's worth a thousand words

• With contact pictures in Gmail, you can pick ones for yourself, see which ones your friends have chosen, and set certain pictures to show up for specific people in your Gmail account. Best of all, you can even send picture suggestions to your friends


Shortcuts on the right• Now Gmail automatically detects

addresses and tracking numbers, and displays useful information such as directions and package tracking alongside your messages


Using an address alias• Gmail doesn't offer traditional aliases, but

you can receive messages sent to [email protected]. For example, messages sent to [email protected] are delivered to [email protected].

Chat with AOL, MSN in Gtalk?• Google Talk has claimed a whole lot of IM

converts. If you're one of them, though, you probably still have a lot of contacts who use other services, like AIM, Yahoo, and even (gasp!) MSN. Today I'll show you how to chat with all of your instant messaging buddies—with all the benefits of Gmail and web integration—using Google Talk as a universal chat application.


Set up Google Talk with Psi

• When you're done, launch Psi. The first thing you need to do is set up your Gmail account (as you know your Google chat works through your Gmail address), so type in a descriptive name at the Add Account screen (Gchat will do) and click Add. Now you need to enter in all of the pertinent information on the Account tab of the setup.


Register your other IM services with a transport server

• Now comes the magic part. Connect your Google Talk account with Psi by right-clicking the account name, then Status, and then Online. Now right-click the account name a second time and click Service Discovery.

Google to Bid for the 700MHz Spectrum

• Google announced that it will bid in the FCC auction of wireless spectrum in the 700 MHz band. "We believe it's important to put our money where our principles are. Consumers deserve more competition and innovation than they have in today's wireless world. No matter which bidder ultimately prevails, the real winners of this auction are American consumers who likely will see more choices than ever before in how they access the Internet," said Eric Schmidt, Google's CEO.

• Google's answer to NASA's problem regarding weather data. Every day, NASA's Earth Observing System (EOS) transmits terabytes of data back to ground stations. A terabyte is 1024 gigabytes, or about one trillion bytes, of information.

launch a service for storing files. Of course, we all know about GDrive, an internal Google project, and Google's goal to store 100% of user's data. "Internet Sharing" application, for free, that allowed you to share your Internet connection (like the commercial apps PDANet and USBModem). But all of these applications only supported sharing your dial-up connection via a USB cable or Bluetooth PAN/DUN connection. This hacked version lets you share your Internet connection via an Ad Hoc WiFi network. This useful, among other reasons, if you want to share your Internet Connection with a device that doesn't support Bluetooth PAN, or USB Host connectivity, but does support Ad Hoc WiFi networks, such as a Sony PSP or iPod Touch.
