Important Information

Course Wait List A wait list is an electronic list of students who are waiting to register for a full class. Students may sign up for this when they attempt to register for a section that has reached its capacity. The fi rst student on the registration wait list is notifi ed via email when a space becomes available. This student then has a maximum of 48 hours or until 5pm on the Add Deadline Date, whichever comes fi rst, to register for the section. If the student does not register for the section within this time frame, he/she will be dropped from the wait list for that section and the next student on the list will be notifi ed.

Course Wait List Policies and Procedures 1. Any eligible student wishing to enroll in a course that has reached its authorized capacity may add themselves to one section of that course’s wait list. A student is wait listed in the order in which s/he attempts to register for the course.

2. A student on the wait list is not offi cially enrolled in that course and is not eligible to receive a grade in that course.

3. Being on the wait list does not guarantee registration in the class or that a new section will be made available for the same time frame or instructor.

4. A student on a wait list may attend the wait listed course, if seating is available and with the instructor’s permission.

5. Students on a wait list will have confl icts checked with prerequisites, but not duplicate courses, co-requisites, or time confl icts. Students can be on a wait list for a course with the same course number, but a diff erent section number than the section that they are enrolled in.

6. Students must meet all registration requirements before being allowed on a wait list.

7. It is the responsibility of the student to check the status of the wait list. If the student no longer wishes to remain on the wait list, they should drop it through LoboWeb.

8. Not all sections have wait lists. Off -pattern/open learning courses scheduled outside a regular term may not be set up with wait lists at this time.

9. Instructors have the right to increase course capacity to allow specifi c students to enroll in their class.

Financial Aid Award & PaymentFinancial Aid forms are available in the Student Aff airs Department. Students seeking fi nancial aid assistance must complete a FAFSA form. Financial Aid funds are disbursed the fi rst day of classes. Scholarship and grant information is available at: http://taos.unm.edu.

If a student withdraws during the semester, he/she may be required to pay back a portion of their fi nancial aid. The payback amount is determined by the student’s last date of attendance.

PLEASE NOTE: Failure to add/drop courses by the published deadlines could aff ect your Financial Aid Award. Please see the Financial Aid Offi ce before processing any add/drop transactions after the published deadlines.

Interactive Television (ITV) is now Interactive Web ConferencingInteractive web conferencing (ITV) courses expand the possibilities for students who pursue their studies in remote locations. Through web conferencing technology, classes offered at main campus are transmitted simultaneously for viewing at other places. As such, these classes are usu-ally taught by regular main campus faculty and received at Extended Learning centers, as well as other sites.

Communication between remote students and the instruc-tor is facilitated by interactive web conferencing. Remote students use the same class materials, including syllabi, assignments and class notes as their main campus coun-terparts. Homework is exchanged online via email or the Learning Management System. Exams are offered online or proctored at the classroom site.

Web conferencing brings the knowledge and expertise of main campus faculty to the far corners of the state, provid-ing access to high quality courses. Select ITV courses may also be available for students to access directly from their own computer or mobile device.
