Farnham Maltings’ annual yarn festival unravel is taking place from Fri 21 to Sun 23 February 2020. This will be the 12th year of the annual show, and will feature a programme of bookable workshops, talks and demonstrations led by UK and International experts. At the heart of the three-day festival is the thriving marketplace, featuring over 80 quality exhibitors selling yarn and fibre accessories. Running throughout the whole building, visitors to unravel can enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the show in the unique setting of the Maltings.
about farnham maltings Farnham Maltings is a cultural organisation, based in south west Surrey. Farnham Maltings believes that by being actively creative, connecting with others and articulating new ideas we will foster a happier, healthier and more inclusive set of communities.
We offer a varied programme including theatre, cinema, craft, music and workshops. We play host to a huge range of community and voluntary groups including U3A, dance schools, keep fit, Pilates, writers group and knitting group! We run an active Arts & Health programme which holds singing, drama and craft groups aimed at promoting general wellbeing for all ages.
Farnham Maltings has a committment to being accessible to all, working with and attracting a diverse group of creative producers and audiences across theatre, craft, particiaption and its whole programme.

venueFarnham Maltings is a historic 18th century brewery consisting of a series of beautiful beamed rooms across which the festival takes place. The Maltings is a quirky building of character and therefore does not allow the straightforward symmetry of a shell system (and that’s why we love it too)! We work with windows, radiators and additional quirks and ask our exhibitors to embrace this.

location Farnham has a long tradition in the crafts and has been recognised as England’s first Craft Town. The Maltings is a short walk to the door of the New Ashgate Gallery, home of the Rising Stars touring exhibition and a five-minute walk from the Craft Study Centre, home of the National Craft Collection, and UCA Farnham, one of the few universities with a dedicated craft department.
Farnham Maltings is a two-minute walk from the town centre where there are plenty of public car parks and Farnham Railway Station is a five minute walk away. Trains run to and from London Waterloo every 30 minutes and the journey from London to Farnham takes under an hour. There is also a direct service from Guldford.
publicity Farnham Maltings will run an extensive publicity campaign. This will include featuring unravel in the Farnham Maltings’ Spring Season brochure and an extensive 10,000 postal mailout. It will also feature prominently on the Maltings’ and Craft Maltings‘ websites and e-newsletters. We will be active on our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)

unravel’s curated marketplace offers opportunities for independent producers, well-established practitioners as well as first time exhibitors. We are looking for applications from yarn producers and dyers, knitwear designers, and independent curators of artisan yarn and all knitting, crochet and spinning notions.
For the first time we are trialing a smaller 1mx1m exhibitor space. We hope these enable new emerging talent accessible entry point to the show.
We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and are looking to present an eclectic mix of products on offer, from a range of exhibitors that surprises and delights our audience.
selection process Applications are not accepted on a first come first served basis. Exhibitors are selected by a panel of respected experts within the field.
The curated range ensures a high standard and a cross-section of exhibitors. unravel is dedicated to showcasing a varied range of disciplines and products.
Please consider the following when making your application. This is not an all ecompassing list.
• Explain how your products fit with our ethos of unravel as a showcase for contemporary craft.
• Explain how your products fit in with the range of disciplines available at unravel.
• The unravel selection panel reserves the right to specify the products that best compliment the wider offer.
Please support your application with clear photos that accurately represent what you are intending to sell at Unravel.

Please note: There is no shell scheme at Farnham Maltings. We can provide tables and chairs and electricity at no extra charge. We have a small lift for first floor access. This has a limited weight capacity and a staff member will be on hand to help with the lift if required.

• Single square Pitch (2m frontage x 2 m depth) £146 +VAT
• Double pitch (4 m frontage x 2 m depth) £258+ VAT

subject to change).

Exhibitor applications close on Friday 06 September 2019. Any applications after this date will not be considered. Selections will be made after the closing date and you will be informed whether your application is successful.
