Intercultural neighbourhood garden Roda-Roda-Gasse

The first intercultural neighbourhood garden in a “Gemeindebau” (council flat estate) in Vienna-Strebersdorf started in 2009. People built the garden and share it. The Aim is to produce a free space for intercultural dialogue and collaborative work: When working with soil and plants, new roots in a foreign land can grow.

Unused farmland occupiedIn 2012 and 2013, the initiative „Solidary Agriculture“ (abbreviation: SoliLa!) occupied some farm land in Floridsdorf, which was not cultivated or used in another way for years. The occupiers criticized that it is absurd in times of „peak oil“ and „peak soil“ to use fertile land for building purposes and required food sovereignty.
