The Technical Interoperability and Matrix Cen-

ter (TIMC) is a major subordinate element of U.S.

Army Space and Missile Defense Command/ArmyForces Strategic Command (SMDC/ARSTRAT)

Research, Development and Acquisition (RDA)

organization. This office serves as the Army’s focal

point for the technical integration and interoper-

ability for Space and Integrated Air and Missile

Defense (IAMD). The broad charter of TIMC is to

integrate technical and operational requirements

with materiel developers, improve interoperability

for our joint and coalition warfighters, advanceSpace and IAMD, and provide oversight for SMDC/

ARSTRAT matrix personnel.

Development of an interoperable operational

battlespace picture is a joint service initiative to

evolve one single picture of the battlespace that al-

lows warfighters to view both friendly and enemy

force locations and enable joint fires operational

planning, coordination, and execution. It will

project combined data from a variety of sensorsfor Space and IAMD missions and increase the

effectiveness of the family of systems (FoS) by

expanding the battlespace, enhancing combat

identification, promoting missile conservation, al-

lowing for continuous tracking and remote target

engagements, and minimizing collateral damage

and fratricide. The interoperable operational bat-

tlespace picture will enhance our forces’ ability to

execute battle management, fire support, counter-

fire, logistics, and intelligence across all levels of

command.

• The TIMC coordinates and synchronizes the

Army’s interoperability requirements that sup-

port the development of the joint battlespace

picture.

• The TIMC is the support and subject matt

expert for the Army joint network-centr

battlespace warfighting initiatives such the Single Integrated Air Picture (SIAP), t

Single Integrated Ground Picture (SIGP), an

the Family of Interoperable Operating Pictur

(FIOP).

• The TIMC provides interoperability analys

of joint integrated weapons systems.

• The TIMC is developing the Advanced Etended Range Attack Missile (AERAM), whi

enables cost-effective, extended range engag

ments where visual identification is require

• The TIMC focuses technology developme

and exploits existing technologies and co

cepts to enhance and advance our current a

future forces Space and IAMD warfighti

capabilities. An example of this exploitati

is the Low Cost Interceptor initiative whiis integrating existing and near-term hardwa

into a low cost, long range and adjunct crui

missile defense capability.

• The TIMC provides oversight for SMDC

ARSTRAT matrix personnel.
