Studio Makeover: Technology “Addition.” KeystoImagination.com, 2008 Although a bit dated, this book is still useful to get practical ideas on procedures, equipment and software for your studio. Michelle is the owner of Keys to Imagination LLC, a store in Minnesota that specializes on technology for the independent music teachers. Her website contains many useful recommendations. It was not specifically written for the iPad, but for computer labs, but many of the resources in the book can be used with an iPad. The idea behind this book is to save you planning time: it contains activity plans using the best technological tools available, and correlated almost page by page with the most common piano methods (Alfred, Faber, etc). If you know what piece and page your student is currently learning in her or his method, you can quickly assign lab activities using this book. don’t be afraid to ask something you may think is too basic! The group maintains a list of favorite iPad apps. You have to request to be added in order to access the group.   88pianokeys.me Leila Viss, from Denver, is the author of this excellent blog. She is the author of the indispensable book “The iPad Piano Studio,” which is now distributed by Alfred. This book should be in your bookshelf if you are using or are considering using iPads in your teaching. The blog contains articles about teaching, improvisation and technology.   iPad Piano Studio companion website. http://ipadpianostudio.com/ Leila Viss also maintains this website that is connected to her book “The iPad Piano Studio.” In this site you’ll find a list of her favorite apps.   TimTophan.com A teacher in Australia, Tim writes a very hip blog about technology and teaching. He has resources for teaching teens and boys. He reviews technology and introduces ideas in user­friendly manner.  Technology in Music Education: http://techinmusiced.wordpress.com/  Written by a classroom teacher, features reviews and tips related to technology. While many of the articles focus on classroom teaching, there are still many articles that are useful for IMT. For example, it recently featured a comparison of apps that can be used to scan music.  iPad and Technology in Music Education.  http://ipadmusiced.wordpress.com/ Another blog to keep abreast of the latest apps. It includes notices of app sales! Updated very frequently by author Paul Shimmons   ColorInMyPiano.com A blog by Joy Morin, a teacher in Ohio. She writes about many topics, including business practices and technology. She has good reviews of iPad apps. Among other things, she organizes online meetings and conversations with teachers. She offers several products including “Composition and Improvisation Prompts for Piano,” 20 prompts that inspire improvisation and composition for young students, as well as flashcards, charts, forms, etc.  Foxxpianostudio.blogspot.com/p/music­apps.html Part of Jennifer Foxx’s blog in Arizona, this page contains a long list of iPad apps. I hope she keeps updating it!  ComposeCreate.com A blog written by Wendy Stevens in Kansas. She specializes on rhythm teaching and has developed great tools and materials for reinforcing rhythm (Rhythm Menagerie). She also focuses on Business Practices. Her blog features interesting articles and discussions about the business of teaching. While this blog does not contain articles on technology, I am still including

it because it’s a very useful resources in general. Plus she regularly invites other authors to write articles on technology.   PianoPronto website and blog. https://www.pianopronto.com Jennifer Eklund, a piano teacher and author of the piano method PianoPronto, maintains a blog where she sometimes reviews Andriod apps. She admits of liking Android tablets better than iPads :)
