The insulated-gate bipolar transistor or IGBT is a three-terminal power semiconductor device, noted for high efficiency and fast switching.

The Integrated Gate Commutated Thyristor (IGCT) is a new high-power semiconductor device. An

IGCT is a sub family of the GTO thyristor and like the GTO thyristor is a fully-controllable power

switch.
