Salutations Circle K!

Now that we’re a month into the school year, our UW Madison Circle K calendar is filling up with exciting activities! We have a variety of events just around the corner and I would love for you to join us in serving the Madison community.

There are plenty of fun service projects for you to participate in! Whether you’re helping at Second Harvest Food Bank or helping with registration at the Run for Literacy, you’ll be sure to have a great time helping the community and meeting other Circle K members.

One of my favorite charities that we work with is Shelter from the Storm. Shelter from the Storm is an animal rescue here in Madison and on Sundays we get to walk dogs with them. This is a great project to participate in because you get the chance to have a study break, de-stress in the fresh air and spend time with some adorable dogs! We also help Shelter from the Storm at their PetSmart adoption days where we help take them outside and socialize them.

Be sure to sign up for some of our great projects: they are a great way to relax after studying for midterm and a nice chance to socialize with fellow club members!

This great fall weather makes it the perfect time to get outside and do some good.

Yours in service,

Dayna Wimann

President

October is upon us and so are some great volunteer and service opportunities! As members of Circle K, we set out to help and serve the community however we can. It is also our duty as the collegiate level of Kiwanis to raise money for the Eliminate Project and help other Kiwanis sponsored organization such as March of Dimes. We also have some local organizations that we partnered up with to try to help each semester, such as the Madison animal shelters, food banks and a few tutoring groups. We also have a few additional charities thrown into the mix that we do volunteer events for.

Coming up this month we have: Dog Walking at Shelter for the Storm (bi-weekly on Sunday mornings); the Halloween at the Zoo Party; helping out the Literacy Network with their Halloween party bake sale; volunteering at the River Food Bank; and helping at a few run/walks for a variety of charities. With all these opportunities there is no reason we can’t rack up more volunteer hours than last month!

Check out all of our service events & sign up here.

Hey, everyone! In addition to our numerous Circle K service projects, we also love to have fellowship time to get to know each other better and bond! The cookout last week went really well. Our next social is on Thursday, 10/8. We will be having a movie night at Calla's apartment at 7pm. We will watch the beloved college classic "Animal House". On 10/22 we will go to Comedy Club. We'll meet at 7:50pm by the UW Bookstore and go there together. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at our upcoming socials!

MAC Overview By: Erin Idler

Membership  Awareness  Conference  occurs  once  a  year  at  Camp  Wawbeek  in  the  Wisconsin  Dells.    When  arriving  at  camp  on  Friday  night,  the  Culvers  in  the  Dells  hosted  a  profit-‐sharing  night  as  a  fundraiser  for  Camp  Wawbeek.  Members  and  adults  volunteered  serving  food  and

cleaning  tables.

Saturday  morning  began  with  service  projects  around  camp  to  help  close  it  for  the  season.  Post  service  projects  we  had  workshop  training  sessions,  most  being  officer  and  membership  training.    At  MAC  this  year,  it  was  not  only  WUM  Circle  K  members,  but  also  some  members  from  Michigan  and  Indiana  CKI  districts,  as  well  as  3  InternaJonal  Board  Members.

Saturday Night was filled with bonding time. There was the option to go on a Tracker Ride-- led by Camp’s very own Ken Saville. Members could also participate in Zumba and a bonfire too. Throughout the weekend, there were various fundraisers for camp and the 63 people at MAC donated an impressive amount of money within those 3 days.

Membership Awareness Conference is a great opportunity to learn more about Circle K and our district as well as get to do some hands on service while still meeting amazing people.

Hello everyone! I've been asked to share a DIY project with you all for the month of October. I'm not a super crafty person, but I have an easy to do project that will spice up the way you do trick or treating! What I do is dress up my candies as ghosts! Hope this helps you revamp your candy!

You Will Need: Tissues, Mini Candies, Tape, Markers

Step 1: Lay out your tissue and put the candy in the center.

Step 2: Lay out your tissue and put the candy in the center.

Step 3: Hold the candy in the tissue upright and twist, so that the candy remains inside. Be careful so that the tissue does not rip!

Step 4: Secure the neck of the ghost with so the candy does not fall out and then draw on a face with marker. Enjoy your spooky ghost treat and have a great Halloween!
