This Quick Start Guide is intended to assist users in launching and participating in a VA Video Connect session using a Google Chrome browser.

JOINING YOUR VISITStep 1If Google Chrome is your default browser, click “Click Here to Join the VA Video Visit” in your scheduling email or calendar reminder, as shown in the sample email below.

If Google Chrome is not your default browser, right click on “Click Here to Join the VA Video Visit” and select “Copy Hyperlink.” Paste the hyperlink into the Google Chrome browser.

Step 2Enter your name into the appropriate area on the initial page as shown below, then click CONNECT. There is no need to adjust any setting as your device will default to connecting with audio and video enabled.

Step 3If prompted, click Allow to enable your camera and audio.

Step 4Your default microphone and camera will be selected. If you have multiple cameras or microphones, you can select your preferred microphone and camera using the drop-down menus.

Under “Microphone,” you may see a blue status bar move when you as you speak, indicating that the microphone is registering your voice.

You can use the video preview to help verify that your camera is picking up your image.

Click START to join your virtual medical room.

DURING YOUR VISITOnce connected, you will see the provider in the main window and yourself in the upper right corner of your screen.

Chat FunctionalityYou may use the chat room window to send messages to the other participant(s) in the session by typing your message in the Chat room box as shown below. If you do not see the Chat room box, simply click on the “^” symbol on the top of the Chat room box and it will expand the chat area.

Icon FamiliarizationThere are six main icons as shown below:

Click to hide attendee and chat windows. Click to turn the camera on and off.

Click to end session or disconnect from call.

Click for the help desk information, or to view the End User License Agreement (EULA).

Click to mute and unmute microphone.

Click to enlarge the video image, minimizing the borders.

Click to screen share images.

ENDING YOUR VISITOnce your visit is complete, select the red phone icon to end the session. A prompt will appear, asking “Do you really want to leave the session?” Select “YES, LEAVE.” A second prompt will appear asking you to “Please close your browser tab”. Click “OK” on the prompt, and then click the X in the top right corner of the browser window to close the browser.

Your VA Video visit is now complete.
