Just over two years ago N-e-FG Ad-ministrators (Pty) Ltd successfullyobtained a 13B accreditation from theFinancial Services Board (FSB). Thisrare accreditation enables N-e-FGAdministrators to ad-minister Pension andProvident Funds.For more than 8 yearsthe N-e-FG Umbrel-la Retirement Fund(Pension) and N-e-FGUmbrella RetirementFund (Provident) ex-perienced the ups anddowns of ineffectiveand poor service pro-vided by independent 3rd party ser-vice administrators. This led to apply-ing for an N-e-FG 13B accreditation.In what follows Mr. Steyn Jansen vanRensburg, Managing Director of N-e-FG Administrators (Pty) Ltd focuseson the core elements and decidingfactors that enable N-e-FG to admin-ister a Pension or Provident Fundsuccessful and effectively.

1. Online benefit statements – It isa huge frustration for employees toreceive their benefit statement onlyonce a year – the industry standard.In most cases where benefit state-ments are received, the dates reflect-ed would prove that such statementsare actually already 6 months or old-er. 4. Funeral benefits – Funeral costs havesoared as were expected. To have fu-neral cover for the main members andtheir spouses of below R18 000 is notworth having. On top of the main ben-efit it is important to offer employeesbenefits like unemployment benefits,meat benefits, food insurance etc.5. Last but not least – payments ofclaims relating to funeral benefits, with-drawals, transfers etc. Such paymentsshould be done within the shortesttimespan humanly possible. Some Ad-ministrators have been timed and theoutcome was shocking. 2 – 6 monthsfor a death claim where all the neces-sary paperwork was handed in. Ourturnaround time is 24 working hours.There are endless issues to be investi-
