This is the second of two meetings between the Sabres and Canucks this season.

Last meeting: Vancouver defeated Buffalo 4-2 in Buffalo on Oct. 20

The Sabres are 3-7-0 in their last 10 games vs. the Canucks; 1-8-1 on the road.

This is the 120th game all-time between Buffalo and Vancouver; Buffalo has a 48-52-19 series record.

The Sabres are 17-31-11 on the road against the Canucks all-time.  THIS DATE IN SABRES HISTORY

The Sabres are 12-7-2 all-time on January 25.

January 25, 1977: Rick Martin scores two third-period goals – including the game-winner – to lead the Wales Conference All-Star

Team to a 4-3 victory, earning MVP honors.  THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

Tonight’s game concludes a three-game Pacific Division road trip for the Sabres, which began with a 2-1 overtime win on Monday at

Calgary and a 5-0 win at Edmonton on Tuesday.

Chad Johnson is 1-1-1 in three career starts against the Canucks with a .950 save percentage and a 1.64 goals-against average

The home team has won 12 of the last 16 games between these teams, including five of the last seven.

The Sabres need a win tonight to avoid losing five straight matchups with the Canucks for the first time since the team lost six

straight from March 10, 1991 to March 1, 1993.  WHO’S HOT?

Jack Eichel enters tonight’s game on a seven-game point streak, with 14 points (5+9) in those games.

Buffalo Sabres: Media Notes

Entering play Wednesday, Eichel’s streak was the fourth-longest active streak in the NHL, one behind a three-way tie for the

longest (Jamie Benn, Sidney Crosby, Alexander Radulov).

Ryan O’Reilly has recorded eight points (4+4) in his last seven games.

Rasmus Ristolainen has 12 points (3+9) in his last 11 games, dating back to Dec. 29, despite getting a game misconduct after just

5:43 of ice time in one of those games. Ristolainen’s 12 points during that span ranked third among NHL defensemen entering play

Wednesday.

Kyle Okposo has recorded 14 points (3+11) in his last 14 games, including four multi-point games in his last six contests.

Sam Reinhart has totaled six points (2+4) in his last four games.  EVEN-KEELED

Sabres goaltenders Robin Lehner and Chad Johnson have combined to stop all 56 shots faced at even strength in Buffalo’s last

two games, with each goalie stopping 28 even-strength shots in his respective start.

The Sabres’ goaltenders last played consecutive games without allowing an even-strength goal on Oct. 14 and 15, 2017 (excludes

one empty-net goal against).

The team’s goaltenders have not gone three straight games without allowing an even-strength goal since Jhonas Enroth stopped

each of the 82 even-strength shots he faced from Nov. 22 to 28, 2014.  JACK ATTACK

Jack Eichel has totaled 25 points (12+13) in his last 16 games, dating back to Dec. 15.

Entering play Wednesday, Eichel ranked in the top 10 in the league in goals (T-1st, 12), points (T-1st, 25), even-strength goals (2nd,

10), even-strength points (T-6th, 16) and shots (1st, 75) during that stretch.

Eichel scored at least two goals in four of those 16 games and is tied for fifth in the league with four multi-goal games this season,

just two off the league lead.  I LIKE EICH

Jack Eichel is currently on pace to shatter his personal bests in goals (24), assists (33) and points (57) on the strength of improved

production at even strength (T-8th in NHL in ES goals, T-10th in ES points entering play Wednesday).

With his 17th even-strength goal in his 44th game of the season on Jan. 11 vs. Columbus, Eichel surpassed his career-best total

from 2015-16 (81 games).

With his 35th even-strength goal in his 48th game of the season on Jan. 24 at Edmonton, Eichel matched his career-best total from

2015-16 (81 games).

SETTING THEM UP AND KNOCKING THEM DOWN

Of Jack Eichel’s 49 points so far this season, 23 have been goals or primary assists recorded during 5-on-5 play (excludes 6-on-5

situations).
