Physical Education with Ms. Rhoades and Mr. Grant5th and 6th grade P.E. are having a blast learning how to play the game Speedball! This game combines the sports of Soccer, Football, and Basketball to create a full court evasion team sport. By the end of the unit all 5th and 6th graders should be able to tell you the three different ways to score points while playing Speedball.
Thanks! Coach Grant By: Alexis Gerdes and Trinity Camarata
The Physical Education Department has been off to a great start this school year. The 5/6 grade girls have transitioned quickly to their new grades, with the 5th graders learning how to open locks and the 6th graders taking their PE tests very seriously. For updates on the upcoming weeks, the girls will be playing flag football and working on their upper body strength as well as flexibility. It'll be interesting to see how we take on the new sport!

New Staff To BHJHHello, my name is Mr. Grant and I am the new P.E. teacher at the Junior High. I am very humbled
to have found myself home for my first teaching job! I graduated from Bismarck-Henning High School in 2010 before playing baseball at DACC and finishing my studies at Illinois State University. While attending Bismarck I played football, basketball, and baseball. I continued to play these sports on various intramural teams during my time at Illinois State. I have also assisted in coaching high school and junior high football, as well as high school baseball teams. Today I enjoy coaching, playing golf, pickup basketball, and running. I enjoy being around kids and I love being active so being a P.E. teacher is a job I know I will enjoy each and every day.
I am Andrea Lyman. This is my seventh year teaching. I spent five years at John Greer Elementary School in Hoopeston teaching 5th grade and one year at Schlarman Academy teaching 3rd grade. I attended Danville Area Community College for 2 years getting my Associates Degree and two years at Eastern Illinois University getting my Bachelors in Education. Years later, I attended Olivet Nazarene University and received my Masters as a Reading Specialist. Originally from Catlin, I now make the commute from Oakwood. I love animals and my year old Great Dane Shay. I also have horses that we use in rodeos and raise long-horned steers.
Gardening Club Both Junior High and High School students are coming together in a hands-on gardening project. The kids are working in the garden on every Monday and Wednesday after school to water the vegetables’, weed the vegetables’, and harvest the
vegetables. On Wednesdays we make delicious food. The best part, is that we make the food from the fresh ingredients we have harvested
ourselves. The first dish we made was called bruschetta and we used fresh tomatoes and fresh basil.By: Amanda Brown
