Safety:

Safety is of prime importance. Everyone must think safety at all times. Shoes will be worn at all times, NO SANDALS! It is recommended that loose fitting clothing not be worn for this class.

A safety test will be given at the first of the semester and needs to be passed at 100% before student can touch or handle any power tools prior to house construction. Any student that violates any safety rules will be permanently dismissed from the class.

Ethical Values:

o Every student is important, and each has many good qualities. o It is a hands-on class and everyone needs to do their share and work together to

get the most out of this building experience. o Abusive language will NOT be tolerated from anyone. o Smoking, chewing, drugs, or alcohol will not be allowed on the job site. o Any vandalism to property on or around job site, or to any equipment will be

repaired and paid for by the STUDENT. o Cell phones and ear buds of any kind are not allowed during class and should be

put away. o Safety glasses must be worn at all times. o Littering will not be allowed. o Reckless driving will NOT be tolerated. o Be respectful of the neighborhood—noise, parking, and driving behaviors.

Attendance:

Because this is a hands-on class, attendance is required. Participation points will be given. A student is considered absent if he/she is more than 20 minutes late. Students will be allowed 15 minutes travel time from job site to school.

Grades and Citizenship:

A mid-term and final test will be given. The state test will be given at the end of the year. It will count on the final grade. Students are graded on work accomplished each day and on tests given. Students will need to do what is asked of them. If they are late more than four times, a "U" will be given. All District and School Citizenship rules will apply.

Transportation:

Each student is responsible for his or her transportation to and from the job site. State and District laws will not permit the instructor to give rides to ANY student.
